Vanessa Marin (licensed couples therapist specializing in sex therapy) introduces a six-facet model of sexual compatibility in a short YouTube video. In part 1 she names and explains the first three facets — Frequency (how often partners have sex; she rates this as least important), Preferences (specific sexual activities and the need for open communication), and Mood (the vibe or energy around sex). The clip ends with a call-to-action to watch part 2 for the remaining facets.

Have you ever found yourself wondering if you and your partner are actually compatible? Listen up, because this video is for you. Hey, there. My name is Vanessa. I'm a licensed couples therapist, and I specialize in sex therapy. I know compatibility can feel like this huge, complex topic, so I actually created a model to simplify it into six facets. The first is frequency. And this is the thing that most of us think of when we think about compatibility. But I actually think frequency is the least important aspect of compatibility. I think sex is all about quality, not quantity. The second is preferences. These are the things that you actually want to do or not do in the bedroom. And this is a perfect example of why communication is so important. If you're not talking openly about what you want to be doing together, there is a huge chance that you are having misunderstandings about it and thinking that you're less compatible than you might actually be. The third aspect is mood, and this is something that most people never think about, but this is like the vibe that you like to have around sex, the energy that you like you and your partner to exchange when you're being intimate. If you want to know the other three aspects of compatibility, give us a follow and keep an eye out for part two.
