A short YouTube segment from Vanessa Marin’s series “How Do I Say This?” in which a couples therapist provides a script for discussing personal hygiene with a partner. The clip advises normalizing bodily functions, avoiding criticism, and framing hygiene as a light, sexy request (e.g., “hey, babe, why don't you hop in the shower?”) to maintain intimacy and reduce embarrassment.

Welcome back to How Do I say this? A series where I, a couples therapist, give you communication scripts for your most common challenges. So, first of all, it is completely normal to sweat. It is normal to be a little bit funky down there at the end of a long day. The key here is that you don't want to make your partner feel embarrassed for just having a body that's doing normal body things. So don't make any sort of criticism or complaint. Instead, instead, phrase this as a request and keep it light and sexy, like, hey, babe, why don't you hop in the shower? And then I want to do a little something to take care of you tonight. So let me know down in the comments what is something that you are struggling to tell your partner and make sure to follow. So you see, if I answer your question in the series.
