A short advice video/transcript from sex therapist Vanessa Marin describing a軽hearted script for introducing new sexual ideas to a partner. Marin recommends attributing the idea to an external source (e.g., TikTok, podcast, article) to reduce perceived pressure, framing it as fun/interesting, and expressing excitement to try it together.

So my favorite way to suggest anything new in the bedroom is to tell your partner that you saw it on TikTok or you listened to a podcast episode about it, you saw an article about it. Not only is that true in this case, but it also lessens the weight of the request. So your partner thinks like, oh yeah, they just saw it today and thought about it and decided to bring it up versus this is something that they've been thinking about for a really long time. They're upset that we're not already doing this. It just makes it feel like a much lighter ass. So tell your partner, I saw this video, this sex therapist who just stays in her bathroom and washes her face all day, and she was talking about how she and her husband make out every night before bed, and it sounded like a really interesting idea. And then most importantly, you tell your partner that you are excited to try it out with them. So of course, if you present it as I saw this weird TikTok, I guess we should be doing this, your partner's probably not going to be super excited about the suggestion, but if you tell them it sounded really fun to me, really interesting, I thought it would bring some energy into our relationship, then your partner is going to take it a lot more positively.
