Vanessa and Xander Marin break down Jackie and Marshall's fight over sex in Love Is Blind Season 4. They argue that telling men to 'man up' about desire puts unfair pressure on them and ignores how both partners shape a couple's sexual life.

Okay. We are watching. Love is Blind Season 4 Episode 8 Jackie and Marshall just had their huge blowout over their sex life.
They did.
And this is a very common and very toxic dynamic that comes up in a lot of male, female relationships. So she's telling him, you need to man up, boss up. You're not being a man. And what she is doing is putting. Putting all of the pressure of their entire sex life on his shoulders. Like, he has to make her feel good. He has to know when she wants it. He has to initiate. He has to make her feel desired. Like, everything, and it's so wildly unfair. And he calls her out and says, like, well, what about me, though? Like, I want to feel desired. I want you to kiss up on me. I want you to initiate with me. So what does it do for you as a man if you hear a woman say, you need to man up, or, like, you're not being a man?
Well, number one, it is super emasculating, because men, as men, we've been socialized to think that we should be a man. Like, whatever that means. And so you're being called out on something that you feel like you're supposed to be doing. But, you know, but beyond that, it's really confusing. It feels like a trap, because it's like you're saying, I need to be a man. You obviously have something very specific in mind that you want. You have a vision for, like, what that's supposed to look like, but instead of telling me what it is that you want or telling me what it is you're expecting, you're just saying, be a man. So I feel like. And I don't actually know what you want.
Even then, though, like, even if she did make an explicit request and say, like, I want you to initiate and I want you to make me feel desired, like, it's still. Still not a good request. It's your sex life together. You both need to be active participants in it. You both need to be contributing to it. It's so unfair to put all the pressure on one partner to do everything.
