Therapist Vanessa Marin explains that mental load affects everyone, not just women. The key is talking with your partner and making a shared plan instead of competing over who has it worse.

Mental load is not a competition.
Recently, I had.
A woman ask me to explain mental load to her husband. So I made a reel doing just.
That, and the comment.
Section was flooded.
With men simultaneously.
Claiming that mental load doesn't exist.
But also that.
They carry more of it. So let's break this down.
Men absolutely.
Do carry mental load.
I never said that they didn't. In fact, we even.
Made an entire podcast episode about the mental load that men often carry. So if you're a man and watching that video made you realize that you're carrying some mental load that maybe your partner doesn't know about, that's great.
That's the whole point.
Of me making these videos. We can bring mental load out into the light of day and talk about these dynamics that are so often not getting talked about.
Your partner needs to know about the.
Load that you're carrying.
You need to know about the load.
That your partner's carrying.
And the two of you need to.
Work together as a team to come up with a game plan for sharing that load in a way that feels balanced for your unique relationship.
But if your instinct.
Is to belittle, mansplain, or try to one up your partner when it comes to mental load, the only place that's going to land you is in a therapist's office.
That being said.
It'S been important to me as a therapist.
To center women.
In conversations about mental.
Load, because for centuries.
The mental load that women carry has been completely undervalued and often just straight up ignored.
