A short YouTube video (Vanessa Marin) normalizing that many women do not enjoy receiving oral sex and exploring reasons beyond simple preference—such as shame about genitals, socialization against receiving pleasure, performance pressure, and lack of communication with partners. Marin encourages curiosity to distinguish true personal preference from barriers (self-consciousness, learned beliefs, or difficulty teaching partners) and suggests asking reflective questions to clarify the cause.

I've never been like a big fan of oral. A lot of times I thought this was like, so pointless. And like, you know, when you're younger, you're like, let me act like this is doing something. I'm a. I'm gonna be Taylor Swift at the piano.
Let's normalize not loving oral. I know oral gets talked about as like the be all, end all for women, but there are so many women, myself included, who just don't love the physical sensation that oral creates. That being said, there are also a lot of different reasons why we women struggle to receive oral. And I think it's worth getting curious about whether we genuinely don't like the act or we're having a hard time allowing ourselves to receive it. So, for example, we've spent our entire lives being told that our genitals are weird and icky. Of course we would feel self conscious when somebody has their face all up in there. We've also been socialized to believe that our pleasure is more complicated or difficult. And a lot of us struggle with allowing our partner to take the time or energy to focus on us. Some of us feel so uncomfortable receiving that we create pressure on ourselves to perform pleasure even if we're not actually experiencing it ourselves. And of course, we've all been socialized to believe that great sex should happen with zero communication or effort. So it may not necessarily be that we don't like oral, but we just don't know how to teach a partner how to do what we actually like. So again, it's totally normal and common to not love oral. I just think it's worth getting curious and asking ourselves a few questions to make sure it's really about a personal preference.
