Our Best Advice For Long Distance Couples

Xander and Vanessa Marin share three tips for long-distance couples: create communication rituals like special greetings, do activities together over video calls, and use their "First Pancake Rule" to lower pressure on the first sexual encounter after reuniting.
Here are our top three tips on how to keep the spark alive no matter how many miles are between you and your partner.
Tip number one get creative with your communication. For example, you could come up with a special way that you would always say good morning or good night to each other. Having these kinds of communication rituals feels really special, and it gives you something to look forward to every day too.
Tip number two do things together FaceTime and Zoom make doing things virtually so much easier with your partner. So try watching a movie on Zoom or order takeout and enjoy it together on FaceTime.
And tip number three remember the first First Pancake Rule. So when you're in a long distance relationship, that first time when you get back together can feel pretty high pressure. High stakes sex can feel a little bit awkward. So we created what we like to call the First Pancake Rule. You know how when you're making pancakes, that first one just always turns out weird and you're not quite sure why? So sex for the very first time, once you're reunited can be the same thing. So think of it as your first pancake. Keep those expectations low and you'll have a much better time.
All right, if you're in a long distance relationship, let us know down in the comments below. Your favorite way to stay connected the distance.
