Let's talk about penises, Specifically how to keep them healthy and happy. Did anyone teach you how to properly care for your penis? If so, leave an eggplant emoji down in the comments below. But first, if you're brand new to our channel, we gotta introduce ourselves before we talk about penises. This is Vanessa. I'm Xander Marin. Vanessa's a sex therapist. I a regular dude. We've been together for 15 years. And in case you see them popping up, these are our pugs, Maggie and Winston over here.

All right, so why the heck are we doing this video? Well, it was inspired by a really sweet DM we got recently on Instagram. Someone said, hey, I've never been taught about how to take care of my penis. And we would love to see some tips on good hygiene. So let's do it. The basics. Wash your penis every time you shower with gentle soap and water. So gentle is the key here. Ideally, unscented soap. Soap that's meant for sensitive skin. Wash the whole area. Balls taint. Penis Butthole too.
Now, there's no specific number of times you should shower every single week, and of course it is different for every body. But in between showers, one thing that you can do is use like an organic baby wipe to freshen up. And especially if you have like a really physical job or you're working out at the gym, like a little bit of a refresh can be nice.
Yeah. Or if you just sweat more than most people or whatever.
Yeah. The important thing though is like, don't over clean. Sometimes people get a little too enthusiastic about the hygiene aspect and are taking showers every day or multiple times a day. And you can actually dry out your skin if you're cleaning it too much. So that's why you want to, like, strike this balance of keeping it clean but not stressing out too much about it.
All right? So if you have foreskin while you are cleaning your penis, pay special attention to that foreskin. Pull it back gently so that you can clean the head of your penis. Now, regardless of whether you have foreskin or not, when you are washing your penis, pay special attention to any bumps, lumps, or changes that you might be noticing before you get freaked out that it's an STI and you need to go to the doctor. Just remember that bumps can Often be ingrown hairs. Check in with your doctor. If you ever are concerned about something, it's not going away. It feels like something is wrong.
All right, after you have taken a shower, you want to make sure to pat yourself dry. Sometimes people just try to air dry a little bit and it's hard to dry out in between your legs. So just actually taking that effort to pat yourself gently dry can be really beneficial. And if you do have foreskin, also taking a little bit of care to pat dry the head of the penis and the foreskin area can be beneficial as well. So let's talk a little bit about, like, hygiene before sex. So we wanna be super clear, like, there is no need to take a shower and like, scrub yourself down before you have sex. Definitely not. Every time you have sex, we actually have a separate video about this. It's all about, like, it's called I'm a clean freak when it comes to sex. So we will put a link to that in the description box down below. But if you have been really physically active, like I was mentioning earlier, maybe you have a physical job or you were at the gym or like that, and you want to be intimate with your partner, it definitely can be a good idea to use that little baby wipe to kind of clean up. Especially if you're wanting your partner to, like, perform oral sex. It's just kind of a little active courtesy.
All right, a couple other quick tips here. Wear fresh underwear. That will definitely help keep things fresh. Wash your hands after you pee. And if you are planning to touch your penis but you have touched something spicy recently, always make sure to wash your hands thoroughly. You will thank us later.
That is a lesson that has been learned the hard way by many penis owners. All right, well, that wraps up our video on hygiene for penis owners. We know this is like one of those things that you probably feel like you should know, but where did you really ever. Yeah, we did.
