What's the difference between the bristle reaction and the ick? So we've been getting a lot of attention over these last few weeks about a bunch of videos that I made about something called the bristle reaction. Now, the bristle reaction is when your partner comes in to give you a hug, a kiss, just touch you and you feel your body tense up and recoil. And a lot of people have been comparing it to the ick. So let's talk about the differences. The ick tends to happen at the beginning of a relationship, whereas the bristle reaction tends to happen in long term relationships. The ick is when you find out something about your partner. Usually it's a values based type of thing, but it could be a random thing. You find out this new piece of information about the person that you're dating and all of a sudden you have an icky feeling about them. You're not really interested in dating them any longer. So for me, back when I was dating, a classic example of this was if the person that I was on the date with was rude to a waiter. Instant ick, instant. No further dates from there. So those are the main differences between the bristle and the ick. Let me know what other questions you have about the bristle reaction.
