Welcome back to part two of what to do if you are always irritated with your partner. In case you missed part one, I'm Vanessa. I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in sex therapy, and our account is all about giving you realistic tools for staying connected and in love with your partner, inside of the bedroom and out. Tip number four, Walk yourself through what is actually happening in that moment. When we're irritated, our brains have the tendency to blow everything out of proportion, and it can actually really help to remind yourself of the objective truth of what's happening in that moment. Like I my partner is just eating chips and it happens to be kind of loud. You can also remind yourself of your partner's intentions. Like, my partner is not trying to annoy me in this moment. And tip number five, try some gratitude. It is so easy for our brains to go to the negative and the annoying things, and it really takes a conscious effort for us to pull ourselves back into the moment and remind ourselves of all of the wonderful, lovely things that we adore about our partners. But it really is a powerful practice to actually list out to yourself the things that you appreciate about your partner, and it'll have you start chuckling about how silly it was to be so irritated in the first place.
