A short YouTube reaction clip (uploaded by Vanessa Marin) in which Xander narrates and interprets a scene from The Bachelor where Christina reveals she is a mother and Zach processes that information. Xander praises Zach for honestly expressing fear and uncertainty about fatherhood while remaining open to continuing the relationship — what he calls staying in the “murky middle.”
Chapters
We just watched the scene where Christina tells Zach that she is a mother. Zach goes and talks to the producers for a little while and is obviously a little freaked out. He comes back to talk to her, and I think she thinks she's about to go home. It sounds like he's about to cut it off, but instead of going to that extreme that I think they usually go to where it's like, oh, I'm into you, but I can't possibly string you along. I don't think I'm ready. I'm just going to cut the cord right now and send you home. Instead, he lays out the entirety of his experience. He allows himself to stay in the murky middle. He's like, look, I'm into you. I would love to see where things go. And I want you to know, like, right now, I'm feeling a little scared. I don't know if I'm going to be a good dad. I don't know if I'm going to be ready at the end of all this, but I'm willing to keep going. So I think that's amazing. You know, he does that instead of sugarcoating it, which is the other extreme of, like, oh, yeah, I love kids. I'm so ready for this. And then he thinks about it more, and, like, next week, he's like, nah, you're going home. So good for you, buddy. I appreciate that. Stay in the murky middle.
