The Secret Key to Networking With Millionaires - The DM Ep.11 Recap
4 Dec 2025 · 21 min
Podcast episode (The DM Ep.11 Recap) with Vince Reed and Mike reflecting on season one and planning season two. They recap organizing events (Internet Traffic Live 2), challenges selling tickets, and the webinar strategy that filled room blocks. Vince explains offering free tickets tied to purchasing a Level 2 membership (~$50/month) and using an expiring-offer deadline ("expires at midnight"; price would rise to $1,000) to drive conversions. The webinar drew roughly 600–800 live attendees (typically over 700). He describes partner traffic packages that historically returned about 2:1 (spend $10k → ~$20k revenue) and discusses networking advice: provide value first, match your value to your expectations, and build vision/consistency. They close by previewing higher-energy season two and new segments.

Chapters
I don't care if there was one view, ten views, a million views. We're gonna do it and just do it. You want to make millions of dollars. If you want to, you know, be in rooms with successful people, then you've got to have a million dollars worth of value to offer.
Oh, who bought the cheap popper? Mike? That was you. Always trying to save a dime. That's why I'm literally. I'm turning up your only fans.
I just want to. This is sabotage.
See, there we go. See what he does.
See what he does. He blames me first. And then realize I'm kidding.
See, we're gonna have people running down the halls. Be like, they shooting in here. They shooting. They shooting. Smell like gunpowder all up in here.
What's up, everybody? Welcome to episode 11 recap for the DM. We did it.
We did it. Round of applause, boys.
Round of applause. Great job, Connor. All the ones and twos to all.
Two of you as well. To all two of you guys that watch this season. We appreciate you.
This is for you. This is for you too, which is pretty much us. No, I'm kidding. Now. We've been getting actually some good reviews on. On the show. We've been reading the comments, and it. The. One of the best comments I think that I saw and you showed me this was that this guy said that he wasn't even a marketer, but he just watched the shows because the storytelling was just.
Yeah, I'm enjoying it, man. Like, the grind of it. All right. You know, we. We did a lot of research before we started, and we knew that it was going to take some time, but it started to finally like to hit a little bit, so. So it'll be cool to come back and watch this recap, like, a year from now.
Yeah, it's crazy. Journey's been really cool so far.
It's fun.
Season one is done, and it was fun.
You learned a lot.
Did.
Yeah, it was fun to watch. I smiled, I cried, I laughed.
Probably more crying than.
Yeah, it was a lot of crying. Smiling, remembering some of those crazy times.
It was good. It was good. So, as always, we're going to dive into episode 11 a little bit deeper. The details that was not mentioned in the actual episode itself.
So we're gonna talk about the future.
Mike, and we'll talk about the future.
Okay.
The season two that is in the works, but we'll leave that later for this. For this recap episode to talk to you about. We'll start off at the vip. I guess we'll call it club party.
DJ booth, the VIP party. That never happened.
What happened?
Yeah, man. I mean, you know, when you see a girl that looks like Jlo, people do crazy things.
I think even my wife would give me a pass with JLo. She'd be like, that's Jlo. Go ahead, Go ahead. I understand.
I don't know if you take it that far, though.
Yeah. She be like, you wish. I'll be the one getting slapped like I did in the episode.
So that he gets carried out of the party. Right. You were still looking back.
You know, that was. He got walked out. Right. He got walked out.
We kind of, you know, we just did it for.
It was. It was. It was funny.
Yeah.
The whole thing was funny.
Yeah. But obviously it didn't go the way you planned. But all in all, he was okay. And you're okay. You made it back to.
Yeah.
Cali all in one piece.
It was all good.
Yeah. At least he got to talk to Jermaine Dupree.
I did. And now. That was fun.
Yeah. How was he?
He was cool. Yeah. Most people are like. They're just humans at this point, though.
This was like, you know, he was.
Oh, he was. He was. I think this was like dating Janet Jackson. Jermaine Dupree.
Oh, okay.
Like, I mean, he was hotter back then. He wasn't like in the peak Jermaine Dupree, but he was.
Got it.
You know, he was. He was doing this. Yeah.
So that's cool. I mean, there's. There's certain places that you wouldn't realize that there's just people like you.
Yeah.
Just celebrities.
People just hanging out.
Just talk with them. Yeah. So after that whole situation in Vegas, you go back to Cali, and now it's time to put on your second event, Internet Traffic Live, too.
Right.
And the whole goal here is to sell tickets. Right, because you already booked.
Yeah.
The space.
Yep. So one of the things I try to do is just go out there on a limb and, you know, what do they say? Like, burn the boats, burn the ships. So we get the venue, we pay the fees, and you have no turning back. You got to do it right. So the clock's ticking, and we got to sell these. These. These tickets, man, to fill this empty event. I don't know why it always comes down to that with events every time, but it always works out. Like, somehow it always works out. And it was. It was definitely nerve wracking and fun. The planning of this whole thing and the way that it went down. It was cool.
Yeah. So the, I guess the weeks leading up to it, still not as much sales as you'd have liked.
Right.
And you did mention that the way booking event spaces work or like in hotel, for example, is if you, you don't book everything, you still have to pay for.
Yeah, yeah. So you're on the hook for those room blocks.
Rooms. Yeah.
And that's why whenever you buy a ticket to like an event, they're always emailing you book your room here and they give you the URL to book because if you don't, then you have.
To pay for it. You're left with the bill.
Yeah.
Yep.
And I remember one time I filled the room block and there was some other thing. Like someone checked out a day earlier and they still charged me the whole amount. Like it was something in the contract. Like we had filled it the room block, but like this was a different event, like years later.
Okay.
But it was like 20 grand for like, like one room off. Like it wasn't even. Yeah, it was. And it was in the contract. Wow. And they will definitely come after that money. I remember like actually they just build my card and I'm sure I could have went and fought it, but they put you in these weird situations where if you ever want to come back to the events out that you don't pay, like you don't want that reputation. They, you know, be careful when you do that. Sure. You can definitely fulfill.
That's a good point. That's a good point.
Yeah.
So you decide, you know you're gonna put on a webinar.
Right.
To actually one last ditch effort to.
Always come down to a webinar.
Down to the wire.
It's a webinar. And that's I think, why like eboo? Like, I think just understanding how important presentations. By the way, Eboo is my company, which I haven't talked about, but I'm doing the same with Plug right now. Is so like important to me because everything that I've ever done has come down to presentations and webinars. Right? Yeah. Right.
And over time you get. You got enough experience to kind of see what works and what doesn't work when it comes to webinars.
Yeah.
So then you put on the webinar. Right. To sell tickets for your event. Even during the webinar. Like you weren't like how many people showed up? Like a thousand.
So there was like somewhere between like 6 and 7, 800 people somewhere. It like fluctuates up and down. But mostly it was over 700 for most of the weapon. I remember this one very, very vividly.
And the numbers started to dwindle down.
After I made the offer. It started to, like, go down quick. And I'm like, man, no one was buying, so we weren't offering a ticket. We were offering them a free ticket. They just had to purchase what was called Level 2 of our company, our. What we call, you know, our system, essentially, which is right around 50 bucks a month. But they had to get in the system and then book the room. Like just. And then the cool thing about the room block, you don't have to pay, right? Then you just have to, like, go in there and just order, like through the link and then you, like, reserve. Maybe you do have to pay. I don't know. I never had to book through my own link. I think you actually.
Maybe you do have to pay.
But, yeah, yeah, they. They were booking. I was seeing the room block fill and I was seeing people come in the system. So it actually worked out really well. I think if I were to ever have an event, I might do something really similar, like offer a free ticket as long as you, you know, send us a receipt that you, you know, booked your room. Yeah, that would make a lot less sense.
At least you got.
Right.
That would be covered.
Absolutely.
So I know you mentioned you made the. The first offer, but then even then, it still didn't see anything until it was like Q and A session, I think.
Yeah. So, okay, so at the end, and I did see notice at the end, I want to be clear of how it happened. So I made the offer and I was very conscious on the webinar to focus on speed and access, meaning you're going to get to your end result faster and you're going to have access to the real players in the industry. So, you know, I told them the offer is free, come to the system, book room, all that, and still no one was doing it. But I simply said, this offer expires at midnight. So that's what I actually said. The offer expires at midnight, and then the price is gonna go up to a thousand dollars a ticket. And that was the thing that got everybody going.
And that was it, I think.
I mean, maybe they would have bought anyways, because I don't know, maybe they were just waiting for it to end.
But it was a good offer, though.
It was a good offer.
I mean, for 47.
Yeah.
Then as long as you book your room.
And the way that it was like the spin on it, which is truthful, was you now have this system that has all these training courses. I do live webinars every week. So after the event you can keep hanging out. Right, right. So it like made sense. Like, okay, I get all this and then I get, you know, access to you even after the event, and I get to go for free. So.
Okay, okay.
It made more sense.
So that makes sense. Yes. Okay. And that's what kind of pushed it over the edge.
Right. And then a lot of those people ended up going to level three and becoming partners. So it actually generated became profitable thing, which we didn't really talk about in the episode, but that was one of the beautiful things about the system. And then obviously, which I'm sure we'll get into, the traffic packages start to kick in at that point. And that's when it just goes into like supercharged mode.
That's right. Because then that's when. With the traffic packages. Can you kind of. I know you mentioned some, I guess you could say, comparing it to McDonald's in a way.
Can you clarify? So the reason why I compared it to McDonald's is the reason a lot of people buy McDonald's franchises is that they will help you with the location of the McDonald's and they know the second that McDonald's goes up, it's going to generate X amount of revenue based on the amount of traffic that's passing through. They can predict these things. So it was the same thing when they became a partner. So we had so much data of how much people would make when they would buy a traffic package. So typically it was 2 to 1. So if you spent 10 grand, you'd make 20 grand. If you'd spend 5 grand on traffic packages, you'd make, you know, 10 grand. So it was like 2 to 1. So when people would buy a 5 grand package, they'd make, you know, 5 grand back and then I would make 5 grand. Right. So. But I didn't have to pay for the marketing because they paid for the market. But I got all the leads. Our system would keep the leads. So it was like a really, really cool, unique way of leveraging the system that makes sense.
So, yeah, basically you were kind of having all the traffic run to the one link.
We had the. And I am a true believer in that, like one really good thing where you can always make adjustments of the thing that you're sending them to. So a lot of people have multiple funnels. I believe in like having a singular funnel and have everything kind of splinter off from that one funnel. So when things would change, I Could just change that one thing now. That's what I believed when I did that. As we'll get into in future episodes, there were some things where I went against my rules and it may have cost me to find out in the next season, but yeah, so that's kind of what happened. So we just drive traffic to this one video, generate sales and when they make money, I make money, but they pay for the marketing.
Got it. Okay. So I think this is a good segue to move into what to look forward for into season two of the dm.
So season two is going to be interesting. I think that you got to good mix of entertainment and the come up. Right?
Yep.
And I think season two you'll be able to see the come down.
More crying, more crying, more tears. There's also some spins, some things that I had forgot about that happened. I think early on in season two you'll, you'll see something that I don't think got enough hype when it happened. But I think you'll be impressed of, of you know, that whole situation. Situation. We'll talk about that. And some of the connections and the people I've been able to connect with as a digital marketer has been great. I mean, I mean all the way from as we've talked about from John Lee Dumas to being in rooms with Tony Robbins. Right, right. To meeting people like Damon John, like. Right. So there's so many people that I've been able to meet. They probably don't know me, but I've been in rooms and met them. Right, right. So you never. I remember when I was, you know what you've seen from the earlier episodes, watching yacht parties and wishing. So now being in those places, it's pretty crazy, right? Yeah, it's pretty crazy. So.
So that's good to know. So I know we mentioned some I guess kind of questions that people have been asking you and I just want to like bring it up. So when you meet these people. Right. Whether they're people on the same level as you or they're a higher level than you, what are some tips you can give, you know, an entrepreneur, business owner that wants to meet these people but is not sure how to.
Yeah. So it's more. It happens a lot today which is kind of disappointing is people are very quick to ask for things just with no like regard. Like and they take.
Lightly and for granted someone's time. Like for me that's the most valuable asset. Like time, you know, you can't get it back. Right. No matter how Much money you have, you can't get it back. So for me, I always try to figure out a way to add value to the other person before I ask for anything. And to be honest, I rarely ask. Typically, it's just reciprocated. Like, that's what happens. I've noticed with people that are high performers, like, if you provide them with value, they naturally want to provide value back because they understand that one of the rules is, you know, you know, if you want to make more money, provide more value. Same ways, if you want to make more money, make more offers. Right? So a lot of people who struggle, they don't provide value and they don't make any offers, but yet they want to make a lot of money. And that's why, like, a rule in being successful is get in circles of people that are successful and understand this. And this is something that you want to remember, is that your level of expectations must match your expertise. And what that means is if you want to make millions of dollars, if you want to, you know, be in rooms with successful people, then you've got to have a million dollars worth of value to offer. And that comes from investing in yourself and reading books and going live events and buying courses. All the things that people will tell you is a scam that you shouldn't do. You know, those are things you typically should do. I found often in life, you know, you want to avoid pain and seek pleasure where the world basically, you want to. You want to. You want to run towards pain and avoid pleasure, whereas most people avoid pain and seek pleasure other way around. Right. All the way around. And I think that's what I would tell people today. Just figure out a way to provide value. So, for example, you know, I didn't start speaking at events until I started having events inviting people to speak on my stage. I didn't start getting invited to being on podcasts, and I started inviting people on podcasts that I had. So I figured out a way to provide an audience and some value for someone else, and then it would come back. So that's what I would tell.
Makes a lot of sense.
Yeah.
And so, like, last, I guess, couple questions. So where do you see. Do you see any like. Like the current state of marketing today? Obviously, it's evolved, Right? How do you see it now and how do you see it evolving in the future?
So the thing with now is. And again, I'm like one of those, like, I walk 10 miles in the snow type people, because there weren't the tools that are available today. There for sure wasn't any tools to build pages and websites and things like that. There was no things like EBOO to make video and like lead generation easy. And there was definitely no AI, right? You know, you had to hire a copywriter and they charge you five, ten grand to write a sales letter. Now you can have that up in seconds. That's all good, but it's also bad. If you've noticed, there's a lot of people now in the market and most people aren't making money. So you ask yourself, why are so many people not successful with all these tools, with all these people? You go on social media, the information is right there. It's because a lot of the information is free, so they don't value it. And everybody's in such a copycat mode, right? So everybody's in a copycat mode. Everybody's doing the exact same thing. And lastly, people don't have vision to sustain anything long enough to actually get the result. So even like with what we're doing right now, like I don't care if there was one view, 10 views, a million views, we're gonna do it and just do it. Like I know the end result, I know that there's value being provided, but eventually it'll pick up. Most people do a couple videos don't get a million views. Nobody comments, they're embarrassed, they stop. So these are just things of where I see the change. So because I came in where you had to invest money and you had to work to create something, my mindset is different. So I feel like the struggle for people today is this thought process that everything is so easy that it should be easy. And they don't have that muscle that they built that muscle to grind to continue to, you know, have vision.
Right.
So if you can have vision and I mean it doesn't take long, go make a list of the top 25 entrepreneurs in your industry. You probably won't even be able to name 10 that are really doing it big. Right? There's your opportunity. You think that, like it's saturated. It's really not. It's just about being consistent. Very true.
And I think with that, actually have.
A question for both of you.
Yes.
What's your favorite episode of the dm?
Favorite episode? Ooh, that's a good question. Connor.
You want to go? Vince?
So I don't necessarily have a favorite episode, I have favorite moments. Can I give you a couple favorite moments? So my all time favorite moment was actually 11, the beginning of this episode, getting kicked out of the club. I thought that was hilarious. And hands down, the funniest to me was the peacocking scene in Florida with my right hand man. I think that was hilarious. And yeah, those would be my two that pop out, like, right away for me.
Those are good ones.
Yeah.
I would say. I just find the progression amusing in a good way. Because if we look at episode one, how Vince starts off like, you, you're, like, all, like, smooth, like, hey, guys, welcome to dm. This is going. This is what's going to happen. And then episode 11. What's up, everybody?
Welcome to DM.
No, but it's great. It's great. It's like, you know, we had to, like, get our footing down with this show. Obviously, we're. We're going to be, like, trying to see what works, what doesn't work. But now that we found a rhythm, it's great. You know, the energy's good.
I'll tell you, sometimes I think the energy is overboard, like, when I'm recording it, and it's perfect. Like, the energy is not as overboard as I thought when I was shooting it on camera.
It's just. Right.
So you actually just. Rule of thumb, the more animated you are, you probably want to try to strive to do that, because you're probably not. You're probably not.
Yeah, yeah. You're selling yourself short.
Exactly. And I think that. And if I were to do it episode over again, even though I love what I share in episode one, I wish my energy would have been higher. That's okay, because it might have pulled people through faster. Because I hope people didn't see episode one and feel like that was the whole, like, energy of the. Of the show, because that was a lot of buildup. But it was still good.
No, it's still good, though.
Yeah, it's still good.
I mean, you gotta lead them up to it.
But don't worry. Energy gonna be up. It's gonna be season two.
Season two.
And we got some other surprises. Something really fun. I'm excited about.
New segments on the channel.
We got some new stuff coming.
All right. So with that being said, thank you again. Oh, I forgot to. Well, obviously. This is Vince. I'm Mike, head of production here at the dm. Forgot to say that in the very beginning, but you know about it. I mean, you watching these, right? I hope you're watching.
Connor is.
All three of us, we watch.
Of course. So thanks again for watching. I hope you enjoyed this recap show. And if you haven't yet, be sure just to binge throughout all of season one. Get yourself caught up and get ready for season two. Make sure to like, comment and subscribe and we'll see you on the next one.
Peace Later.
