The co-founder of 5D started the luxury denim brand eight years ago with six people, a patternmaker, and a seamstress. They hand-carried samples to Paris, knocked on doors, and landed their first client. The company now has 140 employees and credits transparency and constant communication with keeping clients long-term.

How did all of this begin? What inspired you to start 5D?
5D started 8 years ago from scratch, from nothing. Just an idea, a dream that me and my partner had at that time to build a denim company. In the first year, I would say we were like 6 people. On the second year, 12, 20, 40, 80, 100, and now we are 140 people. Then we hired one patternmaker and one seamstress. So we start doing some samples to present to clients. We went to Paris with a bag full of samples and we went there knocking on the doors. Can we receive us? We can do this kind of things, these jeans or these jackets. It was funny. Our first client appeared like that. So that we try to be very transparent and to be always in contact with these clients, always in contact with all our internal production. Year after year, client after client, we keep having the same clients since the beginning, which is for me a very good sign that we are doing a good job.
