A leather workshop walks through making sandals by hand, from stamping and skiving leather to stretching the upper over a last and gluing the sole. Each step is manual, from the swiveling punch machine to the final hammer blow.

Let me take you on a tour of a handmade leather sandals factory. This is the leather room where all of the base materials for the sandals are. We enter this building and walk up into this tiny workshop. We start at a stamping station where the swiveling machine punches leather out of a mold. The same process is done for the foam to be inserted inside the sandal. Those are then stacked up and moved over to the leather skiving machine, which is used to thin the leather. We then move over to the sewing where the upper is attached to the base of the shoe. They move it over to the last where the upper is slid and the base is glued and hammered to the sheet. Afterwards, you get this beautiful finished product.
