A Turkish factory called Dynamique does 70% of its dyeing and washing for Zara. The walkthrough shows how dye experts mix colors, how garments get their faded edges, and how washing softens fabrics into the worn look Zara sells.
Zara uses this Turkish factory to handle some of their best organic dyeing. Washing and dyeing can oftentimes make or break your garments. This is what a product looks like before and after washing and dyeing. It takes on gorgeous color, softens, and gains beautiful fading around the edges. In fact, this factory uses 70% of its capacity for Zara, 10% for Urban Outfitters, and the other 20% is for small brands. We had the pleasure of visiting the factory and we started off in the dye lab where experts are measuring out the solution for optimal optimal dyeing. He then brought me to the dyeing section where all of the garments are taking on the color, and finally he brought me to washing to soften and create effects in the fabric.
