Let me show you inside a traditional Japanese weaving factory. Nii Nii was kind enough to open its doors to me. They're based in the Aichi Prefecture, and Hiru Nii Nii himself gave me the tour of the factory. It all starts in the spinning room where a combination of Indonesian and local thread are spun. Since the threads are extremely delicate, they need to be coated before going to weaving. After drying off from being coated, the tour continues in the weaving room where over 50 machines are running all day long. It's very loud in there. Nii Nii is particularly known for the Japanese hand towels they make. They're extremely common throughout Japan. But he's also worked with clothing brands like Beams, Nanamika, and Non-native. When you're inside Mimi, you understand that everything is done the traditional way. It's far slower, but the results are very long-lasting. Here's Hiru's business card. Be extremely respectful when reaching out. And if you're looking for other factories like this, I have tons of them listed on my Patreon. Link is in bio.
