Tonello's new washing machine creates stone-washed denim without pumice stones. Instead, an internal basket scratches the fabric to get the look. Pumice stones get stained after 3 to 4 washes and have to be thrown out, so this cuts waste.
This is our Tonello's new washing machines. They're the first machines to do the stone wash without use of the pumice stone. So instead of the pumice stone, it's the basket inside that makes the work. The work that the basket does is to scratch the jeans and replicate the effect of the stone. What is the benefit of not using stones? The main benefit of not using stones is sustainable purpose because pumice stone, every 3-4 washes, they have to be changed because denim bleeds and the blue of the denim makes the stones blue. So after some washes, you got to replace them. And of course, all this waste is not so good for sustainable purposes. Yeah, 100%.
