A guest describes living in constant panic from nervous system dysregulation, listing symptoms like racing heart, racing thoughts, and dissociation. The conversation explains how the vagus nerve controls freeze and social engagement states, and that vagal tone, like a muscle, is crucial for healing.
and my nervous system got to a point where I was in— I literally lived in panic. Wow. I was in a severe state of dysregulation. And so the reason I know this works is cuz I healed my nervous system during a case.
Okay. For dysregulation, what, what are the symptoms or characteristics of a system in dysregulation?
Let's see. A lot. Um, you might feel your racing heart rate, you might have racing thoughts, you might feel sick, you might have a freeze mode where you're just like dissociating or Doom scrolling, you know, your body can present in different ways. Fight would be you're really agitated, irritated, right? Flight is you just wanna run away from everything, right? You're avoidant to like solutions. You're avoidant to everything. Like, I'd rather just not look at those emails. Like, I can't, I don't wanna be a part of this anymore. You wanna run away. And then the freeze is like, I can't make a decision, or you're paralyzed. And, and that's when you're really in a state that we call dorsal vagal. When I say dorsal vagal, dead. Ventral vagal, social, unhappy. And so when you're working with the vagus nerve, You need vagal tone, just like any muscle, but a lot of us don't have high vagal tone.
