How to answer the question, why did you leave your last job? So this is a very scary question for people who've been let go. And I'm going to tell you the simple answer right away. You just be authentic about it. Ultimately, what we're looking for is someone who's not perfect, but someone who's learned from their mistakes. And so in the resume, it doesn't always tell the story. When there's a lot of change, you want to be prepared to explain, especially if there's good reasons as to why there was changes in your position over time. But if you've been let go or fired, don't be afraid. Just own up to it. If an employer looks at you negatively and judge you harshly because you didn't have a home run the last time you worked, that isn't the place you want to work, even if you want the money. So remember to be authentic. I remember one time someone saying, hey, listen, I got let go because I wasn't showing up powerfully. I had a lot going on in my personal life, but I've learned and I will never make that mistake again.
