This is a YouTube video titled "The Myth of the “Safe” Job, Here’s the Truth" containing a monologue or talk recorded in mid-2025 discussing the perceived risks of employment versus entrepreneurship, emphasizing the importance of leadership and mentorship in the workplace.
It kills me that people think it's less risky to start their own business than it is to work for somebody else. Like that paycheck just magically appears every two weeks and they think, wow, this is safe. When the truth is they're putting their livelihood in the hands of another human being and their decision making capabilities and trusting that they're going to make a better decision for them than themselves. When we're out there starting our own businesses, we are making our own decisions and we are trying everything we can to naturally preserve our existence. So the truth is the risk is about the same. What matters is who you work for. If you work for a leader that loves you and builds you and is committed to you, yeah, then that's the place you should be because you could develop that entrepreneurship at your own risk or with someone's guidance. So that's why it's important when you're looking for an employer that you find a mentor, not just a job.
