Physical therapist Will Humphreys argues that major insurers like Cigna and UnitedHealthcare pay PTs, OTs, and speech therapists too little despite their massive revenues. He's hosting a monthly town hall on May 11 at 4:30pm PT to help clinicians organize and push for better rates.

This is me calling out every PT, OT and speech therapist. Last year, Cigna made over $187 billion. And how much did they pay you for being a therapist in the profession? If you're an owner of a practice, that should drive you crazy. But not as crazy as this. UnitedHealthcare is a subsidiary of a company called UnitedHealthcare Group. And guess how much they made last year? $380 billion.
So look, as we get reimbursed next to nothing for what we do, which, by the way, is preventative. And studies have shown the single most effective way to help people deal with their musculoskeletal issues or speech issues, occupational therapy concerns. We are saving the money and they are paying us less and less. And do you know why it's happening? Because we take it.
So my name is Will Humphries. I'm a physical therapist and an entrepreneur. I've had multiple companies in healthcare and I am calling together every pt, OT and speech therapist, especially the leaders, especially the business owners, to start coming together to take a stand. There are many people across the country who are doing all sorts of organizational successful actions. And what I'm doing is putting them all into one room every month in our town hall. So our next town hall is May 11th at 4:30pm Pacific Time. I want you to spread this word, Send this video to anyone and everyone who you think should be on that call, because we have guests who are coming together who have successfully figured out how to increase reimbursement, how to take this horrible exchange and turn it into a profitable one for us. And remember, guys, we're not in it because. Because we want money. But money is what we're doing this for. We don't do therapy to make money, but we make money to do therapy. And if we don't make enough money, especially with inflation, we start losing the power and influence we have over our patients. So please be there on May 11th. Send this forward, this to anyone you know so that we can have a large showing. And we are going to organize a movement so that we can stop taking it, which is the only reason we're in this position in the first place. I hope to see you there.
