Will Humphreys advises job candidates to answer 'Tell me about yourself' by stating succinctly who they help, how they help, and why they are passionate—rather than reciting their life journey or resume. He recommends a brief two-sentence response that avoids jargon and uses a concrete example (a doctor helping chronic back pain patients regain freedom).

Look, after conducting thousands and thousands of interviews over the last few decades in my companies, the greatest answer to the question tell me about yourself isn't the life journey. I don't want their resume, I want their reason. So I would love it when someone could just tell me briefly who they help, how they help, and why they're passionate about it. A doctor would say something like, well, I'm a doctor that likes to help people with chronic back pain get pain free, and I'm passionate about seeing them regain freedom in their life. Those two sentences avoid all that necessary jargon and gets right to the core as to why I should hire them.
