The Cure of Work Related Stress & Burnout Part 1

A short coaching-style YouTube video by Will Humphreys offering a three-part daily routine to prevent or recover from work-related stress and burnout. He frames humans as "batteries" that need regular play and rest and recommends 30–45 minutes daily split across body (short sweaty exercise, eat greens), mind (10-minute meditation, 5-minute journaling with gratitude and intentions), and heart (small daily relationship gestures). The video previews a Part 2 focused on Alignment.

In this video, we continue the series on my channel of stress and burnout at work. Hi everybody, my name is Will Humphries and if you're new to my channel, please consider clicking that subscribe button below. That helps me make videos for you to increase your income, impact and freedom. Today we're going over the Stress and Burnout Cure, Part one. And so I'm going to start today with a simple when is the last time you've had fun? If the answer is that it's been a while, I want you to consider that you are like a battery. And if you expose your body and mind to too much stress over time, it's going to run low. Studies have shown that it is absolutely vital that we play and rest frequently in order to charge our battery. Not just to enjoy life, but that we can be more effective in our day to day living. You see, the key in order for us to find Zen and peace in our day to day living comes from the routines on the foundation that we set. You know, every day we sit on a foundation based on what we do for our body, mind, heart and alignment. In this video, we're not going to talk about alignment because that speaks to our last video. But we are going to talk about the daily routines we establish for our body, mind and heart in order to help us cope with the stresses of day to day living. And the thing about it is, we often think it requires a lot of time that we don't have in order to establish those routines. But Prieta's law indicates that 20% of our efforts are responsible for 80% of our results. In other words, we don't have to do nearly as much as we think we do to get the outcomes that we want. Conversely, 20% of our headaches are causing 80% of our problems. So as we look at refining our life, it doesn't require nearly as much work as we think it does. As a matter of fact, all we have to do every day is anywhere between 30 and 45 minutes of attention to those three legs of body, heart and mind in order to create a firm foundation. So let's kick it off right away with what we do for our body. And yes, we're gonna start with exercise. Instead of going to the gym for hours at a time, we have to remember the impact of simply breaking a sweat. Studies have shown that by simply raising our heart rate to the point where we break a sweat, we are able to release the chemicals necessary to cope with stress. That can be done in as little as 10 minutes. Within the right exercise program that leads us to diet again. We get overwhelmed with the complexities of how to balance our eating, and all we have to focus on is eating something green every day. If we can focus on either starting our day with a green juice or eating our meals starting with our vegetables, that alone can be the 20% that impacts 80% of our diet. Moving on to our mind. We are going to be speaking about mindfulness, and I can tell you from personal experience that mindfulness played a vital factor in being able to recover from my stress and burnout. We're going to talk specifically about meditation and journaling. Meditation isn't as complicated as people think it is. With apps out there like Headspace, it is incredibly easy to learn how to meditate in as little as 10 minutes a day. Journaling is also an easy process. Every day all I do is put down three things I'm grateful for, three things that would make the day great. And then I set a phrase like an intention of something I want to focus on, and that's it. Five minutes of journaling and I'm done. But I do feel different each day that I do it, especially in combination with meditation. Next, we address the heart. And no, we're not talking about your physical heart. We're looking at the emotional heart. More specifically, the stockholders of our lives that have the majority share of what we care about. The people who are typically our partners, parents, and posterity. We need to make daily investments in these relationships in order for them to be grown and for us to feel at balance when things aren't going as well at work. And it doesn't require a lot of time for us to make these investments. It's as simple as a text message or a gif. It can be as easy as a sticky note. What I like to do with my kids is leave sticky notes for them. Saying something kind about something they did the day before, encouraging them for the day of, or just simply telling them I love them. And that is all that's required in order to make powerful daily impacts with the relationships in our lives. So now that we have shown how simple it is on a daily routine basis to be able to establish a firm foundation with our body, heart and mind, I hope that you have a greater sense of hope and you remember that the only consistent in life is changed, that the only thing that stays the same is that everything around us is constantly evolving. So in our next video, we're going to finalize this series by doing episode six, the Stress and Burnout Cure. Part two where we will address the Alignment in our lives. So the question of the day. What do you think is a powerful way to recharge your battery? Guys, thank you so much for watching. If you like this video, please consider subscribing below. Until next time, Sam.
