Always ask, why did you leave your last job? During a working interview? And after thousands of interviews, I've learned this one thing. Authenticity is the only thing that matters. If someone got fired, I love it when they say, well, I got let go. And like, they don't try to sugarcoat it. The opposite side of that answer is when someone comes in bashing their previous boss. That's a person I will never, ever hire, even if they were justified in feeling that way. I'm looking for a professional who can rise above the drama and just be authentic. At the end of the day, I don't care what the answer is, as much as knowing their truth, because that's going to help me decide if they're a fit.
