A short conversational excerpt from a YouTube video by Will Humphreys exploring why business owners and leaders struggle to "think like a CEO." The speakers identify that people stay in roles where they feel validated, avoid addressing known weaknesses (blind spots), and resist stepping into unfamiliar, uncomfortable leadership responsibilities.
What's the problem? One of the main problems you see when you're coaching with clients in this particular capacity.
Of thinking like a CEO.
We get stuck.
In being good at what we're at, staying where we're good.
And where we feel.
Confident and validated. We have to push into the areas where we're not. And that's really hard because it's not about five steps.
Yeah.
About five tricks. It's about our mindset, and it's about somebody that says, here's a blind spot. And somebody's.
You know, I was talking.
To two owners, and they're. And he said, here's my blind spots. And his partner says, well, then how is it a blind spot if you.
Can see it, how is it a blind spot?
Exactly. And so they shared each other's blind spots. And you could see, as one said, that hits hard, full stop.
Yes. Because they're in that place of, like, recognizing it's a weakness but choosing not to address it.
Yes.
So you're saying the reason they don't choose to address. We as owners don't choose to address our weaknesses is because we're getting validation in other ways that. Where we are capable and we don't address it.
It's hard enough. Business is hard enough. So why go.
