Belgian Malinois vs. 10 Year Old Rescue Dog (Obedience Test)

Jacob Morgan's Belgian Malinois Stark and 10-year-old rescue Ranger compete in obedience tests scored by judges on a 0-10 scale. Tasks include heelwork, jumps, retrieving a shoe, and position changes. Ranger's calm experience takes on Stark's raw athleticism.

Okay, so there's a couple of age-old questions in life, such as if a tree falls in the woods and no one's there to hear it make a sound, does it even make a sound at all? And also, what's the meaning of life? And perhaps the main one on most people's mind Who's more obedient, Stark or Ranger? Just a little bit of context here. Ranger's a 10-year-old dog from the pound. He's my first ever dog as an adult and the whole reason I've got into dog training. Stark, on the other hand, AKA Golden Bollocks, is basically the Michael Jordan of dogs. So we're gonna pit them together today in an obedience contest. We have a wonderful panel of judges over here who's gonna score each exercise out of 10, and then we're gonna tally up and finally give the answer of who is the more obedient dog. So I'm gonna hand it over to the judges. They're gonna tell me what to do. We're gonna go back and forth between Ranger and Stark and fly through each exercise and yeah, see who wins.
So you're gonna heel Stark through 2 figure 8s around the cones.
Okay, heel. You sit.
Hey.
Yeah, okay. All right, I think there's some All right. You can't get angry with it. No, I'm not getting angry. 8's pretty harsh, but okay. We've got this. We've got this. Heel. Boy, heel. Boy, heel.
Yes.
Good boy.
Good boy.
Easy.
All right, this time you're gonna heel Stark, put him in a down at the orange cone.
Yeah.
And then continue to walk and call him back to heel.
Here. Very nice. Oh, wait till you see Ranger. Out. Down.
Oh, fuck.
All right, okay. Yeah, okay. What do you think, Mark? Okay, ready? Down, down. That a boy. This is your time to shine, son. Ready? Boost!
Yeah! Yes!
Good lad! Go bye! Go bye!
Guess?
No, 11.
Nice, extra point style.
Tunnel into a jump, please.
Yep, don't know. Jump down, sit.
Good boy, good boy.
Well, I dropped a couple of points there, but Ready? Ranger in here. Here, you've got this. Ready? Sit. Right, tunnel jump. Fuck. Right, let's see. Good boy. Come on then. Out, out, out. Heel. No. Heel, heel. No. Heel. Sit. Let's try again. Tunnel. No. Jump. No. Puss. Yeah. Sit.
Right.
Okay. No. Come here. Come here. Good boy. Puss, that's it. Crazy. No, come here. Good boy. Sit. Tunnel.
No, no, jump, jump.
Fuck. Jump.
What the fuck?
Good boy. Get it. Goodbye. Okay, Puss, sit. Okay, right, this is it. He's got this one, 100%. Right, you're going to come over here. Sit, sit, and sit. You're going to jump over this one, through that one.
Yes!
Come on! Hooray! Ranger!
Yep, score us up please.
No, easy 10, easy 10. All right, next one.
One, you're gonna send him to retrieve your very expensive running shoe.
All right, how far do I have to throw it?
A minimum of 5 meters.
Yeah, okay. I need a fucking mantle. Fancy shoes?
It's just to add extra height.
I was gonna say.
Platform Venom.
3 inches high heels. You ready, Papa? Is that far enough? Bring out. Nice, that was a good one.
Ready? Oh, boring.
This, you're going to go fetch it. Ready? Heel. Sit. Ready? Get it. Get it. Get it.
Get it.
Get it. Almost. Get it.
Get it, get it, get it. Get it.
Get it. Bring it. Ready? Ready? Ready?
Get it.
Bring it. Fetch it, fetch it.
Yeah!
Okay, we might have lost a couple of points on that one, Rach.
Good boy. You haven't got the score for this one.
Oh yeah, sorry.
Another easy 10. You're dominating range.
So this time you're going to send him to place, ask for a sit, down, and a stand, and return to heel.
Yankee, Papa, down, Mike, heel.
Good boy.
That was a good one, Sparkles. That was a good one.
Out.
Is Range up then?
Yes.
Right, Range, you ready? Right, easy. Middles. Place. Place. Nope, he's doing the tunnel again.
Yeah, good boy!
Middles. Ready? Place. Place. Look, use your fucking eyes.
Yeah!
Place.
Good boy.
Sit. Down. Stand. Yes.
Good boy.
Good boy, Ranger.
Nice. Good boy, Ranger. Yeah, so Ranger's 10, Stark is 4. Stark's totally in his prime. Stark was intentionally bought as a sport dog. Ranger was pretty much an accident, you know, from a puppy from the pound. If you don't know his story, I had no fucking idea what I was doing when I first got Ranger. To be fair to him, he's kind of carrying the team at this point. Whereas Stark, I knew a little bit, you know, when I did get him. Stark has a few titles under his belt, whereas, you know, he doesn't. Yeah, he's just a dog. He's a very good boy though. Another year of Ranger winning the inaugural obedience competition to his younger brother. It looks like Stark's another year in training, bless him. So maybe better luck next year, Stark, hey? Hey! So let us know in the comments who you thought won, and can you do any of this with your dog? We'll do a challenge. Tag us in it, I guess. There'll be some old bloke, "Yeah, I can do it with my fucking spaniel, and I've never even used toys or treats or—" Ugh, fuck off. I'm calling you out. No, no, no, double DQ. Come on, boys, not in the pits. You're a good boy, Range. You win the contest that really matters most, the people's hearts. Number 1 on the field, number 1 in your hearts, and scrapping.
