A Rottweiler and French Bulldog playing together risks accidental injury when the bigger dog steps on or bowls over the smaller one, potentially triggering defensive behavior. Safe mixed-size play depends on temperament and balanced give-and-take, not just size. Always supervise to catch escalation early.

The problem a little bit with a Rottie and a French Bulldog is that there's such a physical mismatch. Or not in the Frenchie's head, I imagine. Definitely not if you're sensing like Bumble, she thinks she's like a fucking Tyrannosaurus Rex. But it's too easy for a Rottie to accidentally bowl a Frenchie over. Frenchie then gets super defensive, goes at the Rottie, then the Rottie goes, fuck you, I'm not having that. And then you end up with a bit of a spillover. So it does depend a little bit on the characters themselves. And in this instance particularly, maybe like the size difference is not necessarily hugely appropriate because of the the propensity for the Rottweiler to inadvertently either step on the Frenchie or bowl the Frenchie over. But it does depend, like, if the Rottweiler is really good at play and he's very good at, um, essentially like there should be give and take with him, interactive dog play, right? So one dog's on the back, then they swap, and the other dog's on the back, and one dog's winning and the other dog's winning. If you haven't got that, regardless of size, it's probably inappropriate. If you've got one dog that's just bulldozing the other dog probably inappropriate. And always do it supervised so that you can see it maybe creeping up and you can stop it before it escalates into anything that it shouldn't do.
