Free Fallin’+Someone You Loved mashup-Tom Petty/Lewis Capaldi by Aaron Jaxon
The YouTube video presents a lyrical mashup that blends Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’” with Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved.” Four vocal parts (labeled Speakers A‑D) alternate and overlap, weaving verses from both songs into a single narrative. The transcript shows repeated refrains about “free falling” and the emotional refrain of “I was getting kind of used to being someone you loved,” juxtaposing themes of carefree freedom with heartbreak and longing. The lyrics are peppered with Los Angeles‑centric imagery—Reseda, Ventura Boulevard, Mulholland—grounding the mashup in a specific locale. The structure repeats key lines, creating a cyclical feel that emphasizes the contrast between the liberated “free falling” motif and the vulnerability of missing a loved one. The creator, Aaron Jaxon, performs and arranges the mashup, showcasing a creative reinterpretation that merges two distinct musical moods into a cohesive, emotionally resonant piece.
