Aaron Jaxon teaches chicken-pickin' guitar by showing how to use a pick on the D string while your middle finger plucks the G string. He plays the pattern as steady eighth notes, building finger control and rhythm consistency for beginners.
Okay, so I've got something that I want to show you if you're kind of new to learning country chicken picking guitar. For these examples, have your pick hit the 4th string and your middle finger on the 3rd string. So the first one will go like this. Let's do— and now let's do the same thing but hit each note one at a time and play them as 8th notes. So that will work your picking finger technique, and it will also get you used to playing double stops and ideas associated with those double stops. All right, learn it. See ya.
