Aaron Jaxon breaks down what actually matters for flatpicking speed: pick grip, slanting angle, how much pick shows, and economy of motion. He cuts through the frustration of finding real technique advice instead of vague tutorials.
I need to change the way I hold my pick. I think the key is using downward pick slanting. I need to play with more pick exposed. No, I think it's using upward pick slanting. I need to hold my hand like this. No, I think I need to hold it like this. You know, I think the real secret is using economy picking. I think the key to it is doing the movement between the thumb and the forefinger. I need to binge watch YouTube for hours to find the perfect video on the perfect way to hold my pick. I need another video.
One more video. Ahh!
