Behind The Scenes At Grant Cardone's 10X Event
20 Mar 2017 · 0 min
Russell Brunson spoke at Grant Cardone's 10X event in a 2,200-seat venue. With just four salespeople and no tables, his team improvised and closed 300 sales of a $2,000 product for roughly $750,000 in revenue. A last-minute slide mix-up forced him to improvise on stage.
Welcome to Marketing Your Car, the podcast for funnel hackers everywhere. You're now part of a small group of underground entrepreneurs who are trying to change the world through the products and the services that we believe in. But because we don't rely on venture capitalists, we don't have financial safety nets, so we have to do things differently. We have to do things smarter. We do that through an art and a science we call funnel hacking. This podcast will give you a glimpse at the daily life of a funnel hacker, so let's get started.
Hey, good morning everybody. This is Russell and it is a little bit rainy outside and kinda nice today and heading into the first Inner Circle meeting of this year actually, which is kinda cool. And it's the first Inner Circle meeting from the new office, which is even cooler. And so definitely looking forward to that. And it's gonna be cool and then I just got back from, if you've been listening to the podcast in sequential order, you know that last week we went to speak at Grant Cardone's event, which was really cool. So I wanna kinda give you a quick recap on that. 'Cause it turned out pretty awesome. So basically, it was a 3-day event out there, but I couldn't go the whole time 'cause I love my kids and my wife and I wanted to be with them. But also there was a whole bunch of buyers in a room and I was like, I want to go speak to them and ask them for money and get them into ClickFunnels. So Friday morning we jumped in a plane, flew all the, it's crazy going east from Boise to the East Coast. Like we flew all day long. You know, like we left, we almost missed our flight flight actually. But then we, it was like what a, see we left here at 8 AM I think and we landed East Coast like at 7 or 8 PM so it's like ugh. You lose all the time, you know, and the layovers and all that kind of stuff so it's like whole day shot. And so that was then, the next morning I woke up and I was like, there was one person speaking before me and then I was up. So that night before I was getting nervous to see the room so I'm like freaking out nervous to go see the room and it's like the room was huge and it was really long. For Locking Live, we do it width-wise so I can be close to everybody. This was like long, so like, anyway, super long room. And there's about 2,200, a little over 2,200 seats that were there. And so anyway, so I'm looking around like, this is gonna be awesome, like so excited. And so I went in that night and worked on my slides, made tweaks and changes to make this match kind of more so for his audience. Went to bed and woke up in the morning and it was game time. So I went down there to the event. The room was packed, tons of energy, tons of people. It was just like so fun, but obviously slightly nerve-wracking as well. Just gets me nervous. And what's kind of frustrating is we had all these things for them, like this is how the room needs to be set up, we need to have tables, we need to have salespeople, all these things, and I don't think they believed us. So like they didn't give us any salespeople to sell, so we had luckily two of our Inner Circle members, Alex Hormozi and Leila, were there, and so they came to help us sell, and Dave Woodward was with me, so we had three people, and then they were trying to find some other people from the audience, so we had basically 2,200 people 5 salespeople. They didn't have any tables, so we kind of brought some tables in to take sales from. So it was like not an ideal situation at all. But whatever, we do what we do, right? So then I get on stage. It was fun, like Grant got up the first morning he spoke. I'd never seen him speak before, so it was kind of fun to see him. He was all excited. And then a lady spoke right after me. And then I got introduced and came on stage, and it was just, it was nuts how big the room was. And I got kind of nervous at first. I started speaking and I got I don't know, kind of a jumbled mess at first if I'm completely honest. And I start going through my slides and I realize they're using the wrong slides. These were not the slides that I gave them. And these are not slides I spent like, I probably spent 4 hours the day before, between on the plane and the hotel room, getting it tweaked for these guys. And I'm like, oh my gosh, what do I do? Do I just keep going? Do I say something? Do I, ah, so then I'm only more flustered. So I was like, this is not the right slides. Can you guys change them real quick? You know, and I was like freaking out. And then luckily, pretty quickly they changed them out. And I was like, oh, thank heavens. So I start going through my presentation. And as I'm doing it, again, the very first was kind of weird. And I switched one thing around, I put Garrett White's testimonial, if you guys have seen the webinar, I moved it up earlier in the presentation and it was too early. So I showed that video, usually at that point in the thing people are laughing, and it's like, I showed it and it was like, it was kind of flat and I was like, oh crap, like I did it, you know, I jumped a little too early. And so I changed that after I got back on the plane to, you know, for the next presentation. But shifted some things around. But by the end I started getting into my pitch and Grant Cardone's sitting on the front row and I see him like every time I do something he's like taking notes as fast Can't, taking notes, taking notes. I'm like, this is kinda cool, like the dude who teaches sales is like studying my sales pitch, it was pretty cool. So I do my whole thing, boom, we get a table rush, people run to the side, and I finish my presentation, I go back behind stage, and Grant came up to me, he was like, dude, he's like, that's why I'm not able to sell on stage, I've never done it the way you just did it. And then all his team were like, dude, that was the best sales pitch I have ever seen. Over and over and over again. I was like, this is coming from these guys. And it was very flattering, I was patting my own back, I'm not gonna lie, which was pretty cool. So then, when all was said and done, I got done, I went outside, took a bunch of pictures with everybody, and then our guys, our 4 people in there taking sales with an audience of 2,200 people, they have 4 people taking sales, which is crazy. And after the break comes back and I walk over to Dave and he's got this huge stack of order forms. I'm like, oh my gosh. At the same time, we had to check out of our room. We were past our checkout time. And we'd called for an early checkout and they told us no. So we're like, oh, we're gonna be down there anyway, so sorry. So anyway, so we went back to the room. Alex and Leila came up with us, we start counting order forms. I'm packing my bags, trying to get ready so we can leave. And this is crazy. And this is considering the fact that we only had 4 salespeople and not things ideal for selling. Had we had 20 or 30 salespeople, I think we probably could've doubled this. And if we'd had a couple other things we tweaked around. But regardless, The number of sales we made were, and I was selling a $2,000 product, it was like 300 and, I can't remember, 3, when all said and done, like actual money was about $750,000 in sales. So, $750,000 from the activity. So, remember, right, 2 podcasts ago, I was like, yeah, basically I'm gonna be flying down to Florida and picking up a check and flying back, and that's kinda what happened, which was cool. Now, the way it works, just so you guys know how the event seminar world works, The promoter gets half, so we'll be processing orders this week, so then we'll send them a check for half of that, and then we get the other half, and then we get a whole bunch of new members, and hopefully we inspired people to use ClickFunnels, even those who didn't sign up, and it was cool. The funny thing is, in my presentation I talk about how we used to charge people $100,000 to set up a funnel, and 10% of what they make, but we've stopped doing that, 'cause it's just, I don't have time for those right now. I had like 2 or 3 people, I had 2 people for sure, and 1 person kind of in between that came up and were like, okay, I want the $100,000 deal, where, like, do I want a check, do you want me to wire the money? I don't really do that anymore. Anyway, it was kind of funny. But that's about it. So there's a recap of what just happened. And it was fun and thankful for Dave Woodward and Alex and Leila for helping get the sales, making it happen. Those guys closed more sales in a 20-minute period of time than probably anybody on planet Earth, so it was pretty awesome. I'm at the office now, I'm gonna go get things set up for Inner Circle and I will talk to you guys all again soon. Bye everybody.
