Welcome to Marketing in Your Car, the podcast for funnel hackers everywhere. You're now part of a small group of underground entrepreneurs who are trying to change the world through the products and the services that we believe in. But because we don't rely on venture capitalists, we don't have financial safety nets, so we have to do things differently. We have to do things smarter. We do that through an art and a science we call funnel hacking. This podcast will give you a glimpse at the daily life of a funnel hacker. So let's get started. Day number 2 now. So, Devon got on stage, intro, got everyone in state, and then we came up and we did a session called Follow-Up Funnels, where it was Todd, Dylan, and Ryan, and me, and we talked about how email funnels are from 1998, and the future is follow-up funnels, and we did a presentation, and in the presentation we ripped our shirts off, and we had these t-shirts on, which I'm actually wearing the shirt today. It says, "We are not Confusionsoft, we are ClickFunnels," and we challenged everybody to go all in, and be all in in ClickFunnels. And we gave these t-shirts and temporary tattoos, a whole bunch of stuff for anyone who went all in. And basically they had to open up their phone, they had to go imallin.com, and then they would, if you're not all in, it had Macaulay Culkin slapping his face saying, ah, you're not in, and there's a big button where you could upgrade. And if you were all in, it showed you were all in, then basically you'd run to the back of the room, show them the phone, and then we'd give you this huge packet of swag, which was cool. So if any of you guys are listening to this, don't do that right now. 'cause we're updating it to make it work online, but I think by next week, actually my birthday, March 8th, so on my birthday we're gonna be doing that presentation live to Facebook Live and it'll be live where you can all go all in and get the same swag shipped out to you, which will be fun. But it was cool to show people what's possible in Actionetics. Most people don't know, they assume it's an email autoresponder and that's like saying that, that's like saying ClickFunnels builds websites, like come on now, that's 1998. I had a slide, I wanted to use Urkel, Steve Urkel, my slides, and I was able to use him twice. I was like, you know what else was cool in 1998? Steve Urkel. And I was like, actually, no, Steve Urkel's show was canceled in '98, so even '98, Urkel wasn't cool anymore. But that's what you're using if you're doing email funnels. We're talking about follow-up funnels and all the stuff that's possible. So we showed people what's possible in ActionX. Most people didn't even know. And then everyone was— in fact, we, yeah, everyone's shifting everything over to ClickFunnels, which is the goal. We want everybody all in. I want you all in. So That was what Follow-Up Funnels was about. It was probably the coolest presentation, so much energy, like it was awesome. Then we had a break after that, then Justin and Tara Williams came on and, uh, did a whole session on Podcast Funnels, which was awesome. They told their story, which was cool, and basically showed how like these 3 podcasts they've done, how these 3 podcasts have each launched, uh, 3 entire businesses for them. And, um, it was just cool to see. Um, anyway, that part was awesome. So Podcast Funnels, Justin, Tara were amazing, they killed it. And after that we had, um, Emily Shea come up And she is 11 years old and she stood up there on a huge stage where most people would be so scared and so intimidated and she crushed it. She was so awesome. She had about 15 or 20 minutes and up there she told her story and did it in a really fun way that tied it to the audience. And like, she's just a superstar. And I told some people, say like the youth speakers were the best ones of the whole thing. And I was like, yes. So Emily crushed it. Then Caleb Maddox came on. I talked about him yesterday on a podcast. He came on. And just an amazing job as well. And like, it was just so cool to see Emily and Caleb, two young entrepreneurs who were able to stand in front of a room and control an audience like that. Like, I— like, for me, it took me— I mean, honestly, it took me 10+ years to get a spot that they were in already. And it was just so cool to see them. And I mean, they're the future. Like, anyway, so, so excited. So they both crushed it. And did such an amazing job. Then we had a lunch break. Again, the annoying thing where our stomachs were hungry, we had to go eat. So everyone went to lunch. We came back, Trey Lewellen stood up on stage. And Trey's really like— Trey spoke at the very first Funnel Hacking event, and he did a great job then. It was fun seeing him transition, like him owning the stage now. Like, he just, he did awesome. He went into deep funnel analytics, like here's the metrics you got to figure out to make your funnels work. And he showed the stuff where it's just like, wow, you understand that, like that's Most people that set up a funnel, if it doesn't make a million bucks day one, they're like, oh, this didn't work. But it's like, no, you understand the math behind it. And Trey showed how he's built these huge companies, you know, $20, $30 million companies off of a funnel that was not profitable up front. But we understand the funnel-itics, funnel-etics, however you say it, the math behind the funnels, um, how it worked. It was so cool for him to document and show it all out, and it was just like amazing. Then from there, yeah, and we're only halfway through so far, you guys. It keeps getting like— just the whole thing was amazing. So then Jason Fladelin who's someone I've learned— in fact, in the Expert Secrets book, I dedicate a lot to him as well because so much I learned from him about breaking belief patterns and rebuilding and reframing. And like, he's just brilliant. And he got on stage talking about e-commerce— or excuse me, Amazon funnels. And even though a lot of people know him as like the guy who's the best in the world at selling, you know, from webinars, he happens to also be good at Amazon as well. And so he showed 7 different Amazon funnels that he uses in his company, and he gave Everybody at the event, here's the Amazon funnels, here's the 7 of them, you guys can knock them off and use them in their business, which was so cool. So if you're using any Amazon or e-commerce stuff, Jason's stuff was amazing. From there, Darren Stephens got on stage. A lot of you guys probably don't know Darren Stephens, but he is a legend. He was one of the— he did the marketing behind Mentor from Mars, Mentor from Venus. Brilliant at book launching, stuff like that. He also runs events. He does these events that have like 80 people in the room, and he'll make $2 to $3 million in a weekend from a room of like less than 100 people. And it's all about like how he structures his events and his event funnels. So he walked through the whole process and he had like 18 or 19 different things that he does as events to build rapport, to get people in buying state. And, and yeah, I mean, if I was able to close what he— what Darren does— again, he did, what'd I say, uh, $2.5 million from like 80 people. Like, I would have done like $60 million in this event, but I didn't. So Darren is still the king and he's amazing. So he shared all the event funnel stuff, which was awesome. Had another break, then Satema got on stage. And Satema is a Super Bowl winner who had to sell his ring because after the Super Bowl, like, his life kind of fell apart. And talks about like, how do you win again? How do you get that stuff back? How do you implement all the stuff you've learned? And it was amazing. Like, he's nicknamed himself the Reverend of the Revolution. I felt like he was the reverend preaching to us about like how to take this stuff, how to like have success with imperfect action and going through and do it. It was just, ah, so cool. Satema's the man. That was awesome. Then after that, we, came on stage and we awarded the Two Comma Club Awards, which, amazing, we had, I think right now we have over 100 people who have qualified for the Two Comma Club, which means they have a funnel that's made at least $1 million, 100 people. And so we gave away, I think, 80-something Two Comma Club trophies, these huge trophies with a gold record on it with two commas etched into it, to all these people, and it was cool, I think, for everybody else to see that and say, like, wow, these are my peers, and they're all making $1 million in a funnel. I was trying to make it like so real, where you're just like, look, if they can do it, you can do it. So we did that, and afterwards I did a presentation called Your One Funnel Away, which basically, I had no PowerPoint slides, I just told the stories of all the ups and downs in my business and the funnels that have saved me. I talked about the 2 or 3 times I've almost gone bankrupt, talked about the fears, the pain, all that kind of stuff, and then what were the funnels we created that saved us from that. And it was emotional, I started crying, which was really embarrassing, especially on stage. Other people were crying, and it was cool. I hope people enjoyed that. Scary thing for me to get vulnerable like that, but I think it was important so everyone understands that like, like wherever you're struggling at, like it happens to all of us. Happens to me, happens to everyone. And so understanding that and being okay with it and giving yourself permission through that to be able to succeed. So that was really cool. And after that we had a hackathon that night. I was super tired. I went down to the hackathon, talked for a few minutes, and I went back up and ate some dinner and passed out because I was so tired. But then I hadn't finished my next presentation next night, so I set my alarm for like 4:30 in the morning the next morning to get started. So Hackathon went awesome. People were up till like midnight building funnels. We had a whole bunch of people who built and launched and made money on funnels that night, which was cool. We catered dinner again, which was cool. And then next day, the last day, the last day, which was Thursday— we shifted the last day. Yeah, the last day we had the last day. So the last day, then we came in and again Devon brought everyone in, brought the energy high. And then Garrett White and his wife Danielle and their kids were gonna come to stage. And when the event started, we couldn't find them anywhere. And I was like, where's Garrett? Where's Danielle? We started freaking out. And yeah, I was totally stressed out. And we're like trying to Vox him and text him and call him and like nothing. And finally, like Melanie found out what room number he was in. So Dave ran up knocking doors like, ah, like we're on stage trying to announce you. Where are you guys? And it was a miscommunication. We told them, we told them a little bit anyway, we messed up on our side, but they came down and And during that time, it was fun because Devon was able to invent a new secret handshake for all Funnel Hackers. So out of necessity, he bought 10 minutes of time by inventing a secret handshake, which all of you who've been to Funnel Hacking Live know the secret handshake. Don't share it with those who were not there. They'll have to learn it next year's event. But we've got a secret handshake now, which is so cool. In fact, I should add a chapter to the Expert Secrets book about secret handshakes. That'd be cool. But anyway, so we got a secret handshake, and then Garrett, Danielle, and their 2 kids came on stage and gave a presentation that was— it was— I don't even say like, it was so amazing. It was so cool. And like, it was, it was, it was cool. Yeah, I'm just gonna leave it at that. Like, it was something where if you were in the room, you felt it and you heard it and it moved you. And yeah, it was, it was, it was amazing. So there you go. Maybe someday we'll do a launch like warriorfunnels.com and share all the presentations of Garrett throughout the Producting Live events, because they've just been amazing. So anyway, who knows, we'll look at that. All right, so then we had— after they got done, then I came up and did a presentation called Fill Your Funnel, which is how to make it rain, how to get people into your funnels. And this was the only presentation I actually sold, sold. I mean, we're selling things throughout the event, I'll talk about this here at the end, but this is the only one where I did the actual presentation. And it went good. A couple weird things, like When I got on stage after Garrett, like there was so much energy from Garrett and Danielle and it was amazing, and then I came immediately afterwards and like, the audio/video guys didn't turn the music on and so I got up there and it was just kinda like this, it was a weird transition and then like, oh and then we, that's right, we awarded Stu and Amy their checks from World Teacher Aid, which was the, you know, quarter million bucks, which was awesome, and then like it was my chance to get up there and teach Fill Your Funnel and we sold a course called Fill Your Funnel as well. And just, something about that, I don't know what it was, something about that presentation was kind of off, like, And I'm just being completely honest, like I had numbers in my head what I thought I was gonna do and I didn't do that. It did well, like if I told you guys how many we'd sold, everyone else would think I was a selfish kid and like, you know, whatever, like it did well. But what I expected, and it was like this, like I was doing it like it's just, like I couldn't get the flow right. Like I don't know if it was, part of it I think was 'cause I worked on the presentation like a week earlier and then that morning I woke up at 4:30 trying to get it done and I was like tired and like worn out and like, there's something about the energy just wasn't quite right. It like, I think it was good, but it wasn't great like I wanted it to be. Um, but at the end of it we sold and it was always awkward. I'm like in the pitch, I'm like, this is hard selling you guys through my perfect webinar, even though like I've trained all you guys on it. Most of you guys are doing it now and it's like I have to do it on stage live. Like it gets just, it's funny how that works. But, uh, it did well. That was done when we had breaks, we had snack breaks and then, um, basically to clear the whole audience out, Secret Service came through for Tony Robbins group, swooped swept the whole thing. Um, and then Tony was on stage and, um, and I tell you, like, I was in the back super nervous and awkward and worried. And it's so— it's different because like with Marcus, when he came, he was— he showed up his own Uber, it was laid back, he, you know, hung out with the crowd when, you know, and it was just like really easy and laid back. And Tony was the opposite. That was like— like he had a security detail, like 10, 15 people there who were like swept all this, you know, chairs, make sure there's no bombs or guns or whatever. We had to like check people and they came through like Even like I was in the back and we had like pull us all out so that he could come in and very like intense and, and which caused anxiety and nerves and all, you know, all this stuff that was, it was nervous. Plus I guess I found out Tony was like throwing up before, like before he came. And so he wasn't feeling good and it was just like, oh, so much stress. And then they brought Tony into this little green room and then they let us come in and like he came out and like it went from like this nerve and like all the nerves. And I wish I could, like it was like an hour of this, like while we're waiting for him to get here, like all the nerves and the fear and the anxiety and like, And like, what if, you know, what if he's sick and he can't speak? And what if like people don't get what, you know, like we're so excited for this, for him to be there. And like, you know, and like Secret Service security was honestly like kind of frustrating 'cause it's just, you know how I am, I'm so laid back and it was like beyond corporate. It was like Secret Service, like military, like, which is good. Like he needs that, I understand that. But it was just like kind of like at first was like kind of like, ugh, this is like, we're trying to make this cool experience and it was so hard. And then again, Tony came in, uh, did his thing in the green room, then came out and came to us. And we had a moment before he got on stage where he just kind of came in, like, gave me a hug, gave my wife Colette a hug, and, um, uh, Dylan and Todd and their wives. And then he just connected personally with us at a level where just like, like, I was so grateful for that because it just made all the stress, everything go away. And it was just like, it's gonna be okay. Like, Tony's here, he's gonna do what he does, and he's the best in the world. And everyone's gonna love it, and I don't need stress, and just I'm gonna let it happen. And we just— he got on, and it was cool. So then normally, I guess they don't let people introduce him, but I was like, you know, I'd love to introduce Tony because like there's a reason why I wanted him here, and I want everyone to know that reason. So they let me introduce Tony, and I got all choked up during the introduction. And I was talking about like, you know, in his bio, like talks about how he's helped 50 million people around the world. I was like, well, that's cool. Like, Tony helped me. He helped my wife, he helped our family. If it wasn't for Tony, like, you know, my wife and I were in a rough spot before I met Tony, before I went to his event. And it was honestly like, it was what healed us. And I'm just so grateful for him. And like, after I went through Tony's stuff, I went to all his events in a year period of time. And then right after that, my company collapsed. And it's like, had I not been equipped by the tools that he gave me, like, I don't know if I would, if I could have handled that. And I was just talking about how grateful I am and how excited I was to share him with our, with my world and my, my people, my funnel hackers. And then we played a video from him and then we all went crazy. Tony came up on stage, gave me a hug, and then he just took over. And he was supposed to go for 3 hours. And again, like he was puking 5 minutes before he got on stage and I was like all nervous. And he stood up there not for 3 hours, not for 4, but went for 5 hours with everybody. And it was just, oh, it was cool. Everyone's jumping and screaming and having fun. And, um, it was, it was awesome. It just, just made the event that was already amazing just that much more amazing. And it was done. All the Inner Circle members had a chance to get pictures with Tony, which was cool. And then I went up and ate real quick, and then I had a chance to go up to his hotel room afterwards and interview him for his new book, which hopefully you guys saw on Facebook Live. We showed that, and it was just, it was awesome. The next— that night we passed out, woke up in the morning, and we didn't have— we had late checkouts. We kind of hung out for a while, and then it was just cool as I sit there and reflect with my wife. And the coolest thing for me was This is the first time Colette's ever been to— I mean, she's come to my events and like poked her head in and had to leave to watch the kids, or all these different things. And that time, like, the kids didn't come, so she had a chance to be there and be present and sit in the audience for almost the entire thing. And, um, it was— for me, that was like special. Like, it was cool. And it was, um, I think the first time she'd ever seen me doing what we do. Um, and you guys have a chance to see it through podcasts and through all the stuff that I'm doing, but she's not— you know, she's not connected to that, like she's not connected to the business very much, she's very much supporting from home, but not like part of everything that's happening, so for her to be able to see that and experience it with people, like in the stage, like, or in the audience, like it was special for me, so I just loved that, it was awesome. And so, that was kind of Funnel Hacking Live, and then as we're, you know, that day we're leaving, we're flying home, and I look in the Facebook group, and every day I'm looking in there, 'cause I'm scrolling through, if any of you guys are in our Facebook group, you're probably, bomberded by like millions and millions of everyone, people talking about it. I was like, all right, ready, fire, aim. Everyone's excited right now. Like, why don't we sell tickets for next year's event right now? Like, all right. So from the, from the airport, I did a Facebook Live and doing like, hey, we're doing, uh, we're selling tickets. Uh, there's a discount and Sunday at midnight we're pulling the page down, but you gotta buy them now if you want them. Otherwise you gotta wait 6 months and who knows what the price will be then. Did Facebook Live, emailed the list, and, uh, over the next 3 days we sold, um, almost 1,000 tickets to next year's event. So we've, We almost sold as many tickets as last year just from that. And it was like, hopefully a lesson in like momentum. Like when momentum's there, capitalize on it. Don't wait 6 months now, be like, hey guys, remember the event we talked about 6 months ago? Like, who wants to come again? And like when people's energy and emotions and excitement are high, like that's the best time to sell. And so we sold a lot of tickets, which is cool. Um, it's funny, I had some Inner Circle members freaking out like, do we get discount tickets or not? I was like, I don't know, like I haven't thought through this. Like This is the lesson for everyone. I'm a big believer in ready, fire, aim. We just fired and I have no idea, like we'll figure it out later, we'll aim later, but we don't have time right now. So we just fired. So yeah, sorry, but that's how, that's how it works over here. We're not, everything's not scripted out, planned second by second. Some things are, but most things aren't. And hopefully that's inspiration for you guys to know that it's like, look, just figure things out and just do it. So, um, that was kind of the event in a nutshell. And, uh, for those who were there, hopefully That was a good breakdown. I wish I could go and spend the hour or 2 hours in each presentation like people did so you could experience it. But hopefully that those who weren't there, this will give you some desire to come next year. I want you guys to be there. Like, yeah, I will probably sell recordings and we'll probably have some of these videos that you get to see, but there's something different about being in the room and being surrounded by 1,500 of your peers who are doing the same thing. Seeing 100 people, 100 of your peers on stage with a big old trophy saying that I made $1 million in a funnel this year. Like there's something different about that. And so I recommend for all you guys to make that, that break and come to the event. One last thing I want to share, because I kind of hinted to this earlier, and I think it'd be cool for you guys to know. And this is actually not a victory, this is a failure. A failure in my eyes. But, but I want to, but I want to share with you guys just so you guys understand that, you know, that, that I mess things up too. So one of the cool things that I wanted to do is, is usually at Eastbound Hack Live we sell one thing. Like we did certification the first event and the second event, and then this year, like, I didn't want to— I don't want to be a selling event, but there's things that we want to offer people, right? And so we had the trip to Kenya, which was awesome, and people jumped on that. We had the follow-up funnels, which was awesome, and people jumped on that. And then I was trying to— we had this new event called the FAD event that I'm excited about. I want people to come to that. And then we also fill your funnel. And I think, I think I tried to offer too many things. Not that we And it wasn't like I was selling each, each thing, but we had them available. So it's like at the hackathon, I'm like, hey, if you want to come to the fat event, like, here's some more info on it. And I think it almost caused confusion. People didn't know what to do. I think moving forward next year, like, we'll probably just pick one thing and just focus on that again, just to not cause confusion. Uh, but one of my big things that, again, I only wanted one session where we sold, and that was the Fill Your Funnel. So that one went well, but it was just, um, again, the energy wasn't quite right when I did it. And so I would like— that was one thing. But the other cool thing is that The entire Funnel Hacking Live event, like if you look at it from it, from the outside, like it was a big Perfect Webinar session number 1. If you've gone through the Perfect Webinar in detail, as you guys read the Expert Secrets book, you'll understand it at a level I've never really shared it before. But you know, the first thing we do is we talk about the vehicle, putting people in. And so my first presentation was about creating a mass movement, becoming an expert. So that was like the first vehicle with session number 1 was secret number— would have been secret number 1 if this was a webinar. Session number 2, is about the internal beliefs. And that's how I walked into, uh, I shared, um, the story, like showing like, look, you can create a mass movement. They're like, well, I don't know if I can. Like, okay, well, if you master stories, you can. And like belief number 2 is all about like, can they internally do it? So the second presentation for me was all about that, the internal. And then the third presentation, which was the One Funnel Away, is the external. Like, hey, I believe I can do it, I can tell stories, but like, I don't know how to do this whole funnel thing. So I shared this, your Funnel Away, presentation to help people understand that, like, the external fears. So if you look at— again, if you break down the perfect webinar, you got, um, you got the, the belief patterns tied to the vehicle, which is, which is new opportunity we're putting people into. That was session number 1. Number 2 is their internal beliefs, false beliefs about themselves. And number 3 is their external false beliefs about themselves. And so that's how we kind of structure those 3 presentations. And then the— what we're gonna do, the hackathon, is like offer people come to the fat event, um, because that was kind of the, the natural continuation of that The problem that I have is that if you look at the perfect webinar, what's the last step? It's the stack and close. And we didn't stack or close anyone. We just basically said, hey, you should come to this fat event because it's awesome. And we had a lot of people who did, but not kind of what I expected or had hoped. And so, um, my two big lessons. Number one, when you're doing a webinar, you can't forget the stack and the close. Like, it's important. Even if you break their beliefs, you don't— if you don't offer them the opportunity to, to buy and do it in a way that's going to convince them to buy, a lot of people that you could have served won't be served. I honestly think everybody should be at the FAD event. I don't think there's anything I can do to serve anybody at a higher level than that. And because I, because I kind of shied away and didn't sell it and skip the last step, I'm not able to affect as many people's lives because of that. And so because for me that looks like a failure, it's not the money. Money is a cool way to keep score, but like for me, like, like I should have had 100 people from that room coming to Boise so that I can help them create the perfect webinar. And I don't, I have a lot, but not that many because, because, because I wasn't, I didn't, I don't know the exact reason, but I didn't do it right. And it came down to me having fears of like trying to make an official offer to people. And it's funny that even after this long, I still make the same fears other people make as well. And so that was, that was one big thing. And then the other thing is, again, is, is shifting the focus event to be focusing on one core thing we want people to do. I think people were confused, like, okay, well I'm coming to Kenya and I upgraded, I'm all in, and there's this fat event Russell's talking about, I don't know what that is 'cause he didn't tell me more about it. It sounds cool but I have no idea, and then there's fill your funnel. And so I think that that was my other mistake is I just, there was confusion in where I wanted people to go from here. And so those are things I learned, and again, that's something you always learn as you do them. So it'll be fun next year. My goal is to make the event even better. It's shifting the focus. Well, I don't know what the focus is gonna be yet, but it's making sure that everyone has amazing experience both from a marketing standpoint and also a personal development standpoint. I think that's one very unique thing we bring that nobody else does, which is cool. And then the third thing is really figuring out for people that come through the experience, like what's the next step for them and focusing everything on that. And not having 2 or 3 next steps, but 1, and just say like, this is, this is what you guys need to do next, those who are interested. And yeah, so that's what I learned from Funnel Hacking Live as well. So anyway, I appreciate everyone who was there, had a great time. And with that said, this is probably the longest marketing card of all time, but it's a recap for those who missed it. And hope you guys will come next year because it's gonna be amazing. Tickets are not for sale right now, but in 4 or 5 months now we'll reopen it up. We do have probably another 1,500 tickets or so, I believe. When we do open up. The price has gone up, I apologize for those who didn't get all my emails and everything else. I tried to warn you. But with that said, thank you guys and I'll talk to you guys all again soon. Bye everybody. Thanks so much for listening. We hope you enjoyed the behind the scenes look at our funnel hacking projects.
