Car Wreck :( Day #1 Of The Mastermind…
18 Jan 2016 · 12 min
In this solo episode of the Marketing in Your Car podcast, Russell Brunson drives to an Inner Circle mastermind event while sharing a mix of operational updates, personal anecdotes, and future ideas. He opens with a public‑service warning after a teammate, Brent, is involved in a car wreck, using the incident to stress driver safety. Brunson then explains the recent strategic shift from the $12,000 Ignite program to focusing solely on the $25,000 Inner Circle, detailing how the program is being capped at 100 members across three groups of roughly 33 participants each, the high renewal rates, and the format of the two‑day meetings that blend personal business updates, group consulting, and relationship‑building. He reports recent enrollment numbers from a December push that added 12‑15 new members and outlines the plan to keep the Inner Circle closed to new applicants after the upcoming May cohort. Brunson also discusses his current partnership model, citing three active deals: a revenue‑share arrangement with the ketone drink brand Pruvit, a similar deal with Biohacking Secrets, and a collaboration with a former Ignite team member on a survival‑business venture. He emphasizes that his role is limited to funnel and marketing expertise in exchange for equity percentages. The episode shifts to brainstorming a new online TV‑show concept that blends elements of Shark Tank and The Profit. He envisions a format where entrepreneurs pitch their businesses, he selects a few to work with for equity, and the process is filmed as a season‑long series, possibly tied to the Funnel Hacking Live event. He solicits name ideas and format suggestions from listeners. Throughout, Brunson intersperses humor, nervousness about a police stop, and motivational remarks about keeping business fun and community‑focused. He closes by encouraging listeners to join the Inner Circle, reminding them of the limited spots, and reiterating the importance of building offers, traffic, and funnels before scaling into more creative ventures.

Hey everybody, this is Russell Brunson and welcome to another episode of Marketing in Your Car. Welcome to the Marketing in Your Car podcast where you can increase your traffic, conversions, and sales in just 10 minutes a day. And now here's your host, Russell Brunson. Hey everyone, I hope you guys are having an awesome day. I'm about to start a week that I am so excited for. This week is Inner Circle week, so I'm actually driving to the hotel right now to to come hang out with our top-level clients and friends, and I feel like they're more like a family now. But that's what's happening, and I'm so excited. So for those of you guys who are listening to this who are part of that group, I'm excited to see you. And I feel bad, I just got a Vox from Brent on our team, he's heading there to help with registration and hang out and everything, and he got in a wreck on the way there. So for all of you guys, this is a public service announcement from Russell. If you are listening to me right now and you are in a car, please be careful. And I'm gonna be careful as well, 'cause we don't wanna get hit like Brent. Actually, he hit that. Hit them. He said he did the total like, he saw something on the side of the road and looked at it like, oh, what is that? And then smacked the dude in front of him. But like his airbags went off and everything, so it was kind of serious. So I'm hoping that while we're talking, 'cause I'm behind him a little ways, we'll drive by and I'll actually see him. And we can all honk and yell at him or something funny. So anyway, not that getting in wrecks is a funny thing, 'cause it's not. But when it's your friend and he's not hurt, then it's hilarious. So anyway, there you go. Alright, so I wanna just kind of, 'cause I know that some of you guys saw some of the kit in the inner circle Inner Circle campaigns and people have been asking me like, "Did you fill it up? What happened?" And all that kind of stuff. So kind of what happened is, as you guys know, in the past we've had two coaching groups. We've had Ignite, which it was $12,000 and then we had Inner Circle, it's $25,000. And they've both been amazing groups but I decided this year that I just wanted to focus on the Inner Circle and so we closed down Ignite, which is kind of scary 'cause that was, you know, probably $2 million a year in revenue. We decided, "Ah, let's just turn it off." We turned off and focused on these other guys. And then we started thinking like, how many people can we run in our inner circle? And I've been in inner circles where people have done it right, and I've been in ones where people have done it wrong. And I felt the right way is to have a group of about 33 people in a meeting, 'cause in 2 days you can have everyone present and it works really, really good. I've been in other groups that had 100 people in it, and then like, that just doesn't work well. In fact, I'm in a group right now that has 100, and my first meeting's next month, and I'm curious to go and see how they facilitate it, 'cause I've yet to see it done well. And I was like, I wanna keep the group small enough that we can keep that same intimate atmosphere, but it'd be fun to have 100 people. And so I'm trying to figure out the math behind like, how do we do this so we can have 100 people in it? And basically it came down to having 3 groups. At the time we had 2 groups. I'm like, hey, we're basically gonna fill up one more group. So 3 groups of 33.3 people, so equals 100 people, right? And so December we did the math and we were already, 2 groups were full and the third group was starting to get full. And so we sent out an email just basically saying, hey, Inner Circle's closing down, Ignite's already gone. If you want the last spots, like, they're going really, really fast and from that, I think we got, I think 12, somewhere between 12 and 15, I don't know, I have to look at the exact numbers, but people that joined in December at $25,000 apiece, so that was awesome, like, from a revenue standpoint, but more so from a like, we're adding more people to this family and it's exciting. So we have a few more spots, but they'll be, our next meeting after this week is in May and so they'll be, and we have our funnel hacking event before them, a bunch of other things So it'll be sold out by May. And then my goal is just to basically lock it down. And we have really high renewal rates, people that are in it that come back each year. So my goal is just hopefully not have to ever open it up again, let people keep coming back. And when spots do open up, we'll just let the waiting list know, hey, there's 1 new spot or 3 new spots, whatever, and keep it filled. But just keeping it 100 people and that's it. And just working really close with 100 entrepreneurs at a time and really trying to cultivate that and turn it more and more into a family. That's what's happening. This is fun. This week, we basically have 2 groups happening. Then in May, we'll have 3 groups. That's what's going down in the Inner Circle. I know right now, the way we facilitate ours, and everyone kind of does them different, but basically over 2 days, everyone has a chance to get up and share for about 30 minutes. First off, what's awesome in their business because that's fun to always hear. The one big thing you got since the last meeting that's been crushing it for you. The second thing is asking, "I want some feedback from the group." group. And it's kind of like group consulting. Everyone in the group is a rock star, and so it's not just like, "Here's Russell's advice." It's like, "Here's this group of 30 other people that are amazing. Here's them kind of sharing what they would do in that situation, getting their feedback and stuff like that." And so it's a really neat thing where you just get amazing feedback from the group, and then afterwards, then it's like late nights, everyone's hanging out, and then you got relationships that are built, and from there it's really extending that relationship and extending everything and growing it throughout for the next 3 or 4 months for the next meeting and stuff like that. And so it's exciting, I love it. So that's where I'm heading to right now and have a chance to hang out with our Inner Circle family. And if you're in it, I'm excited to see you guys. If you're not in it, you should just get in it. The spots are gonna be gone and then they're gonna be gone. And so yeah, if you go to RussellBrunson.com, you can get more info on it. But my guess is within the next, I don't know, month or so, there will no longer be spots in the Inner Circle. And hopefully there never will be. And so people keep asking me, it's like, well Russell, you shut down Ignite coaching, so that's gone. Inner Circle's now locked out. Like, what's your purpose and what are you doing now? What's your business like? And so I keep looking at that because, you know, ClickFunnels is where our focus is at and it's growing consistently and it's doing well and I think it will continue to do that. You know, Inner Circle's capped out so that business is there and we'll keep creating front-end products to bring new people into ClickFunnels. But, you know, for me it's really looking at now like, what are some strategic projects that we can partner on that I can I can bring my magic tricks too and the other people can become runners and operators of these businesses. And so we kinda have 3 that I'm doing this with right now. One is, some of you guys know the company Pruvit, which is the ketone drink that I'm obsessed with. So I was able to come in and they gave me a percentage to do what I'm good at doing, my funnels and all that kinda stuff. But I'm not involved in the day-to-days or anything like that. I'm involved in like what I'm good at and I can just do that and nothing else. Same thing with Anthony, we're doing the same thing with Biohacking Secrets, whereas he's the owner-operator, I come in and get to do my things in exchange for a percentage. And doing another project like that with Christian, who was the guy on our team who's been running the Ignite program. He's got an amazing survival business he's building out and kind of the same, a similar concept. So I'm not trying to get a lot of these kind of businesses because they take a lot of time and energy and effort and money honestly. You know, there's some, oh crap, there's a cop coming. Please say he's not coming after me. I will be late if I get pulled over right now. Okay, well, cross our fingers that he passes me. I'm gonna hold the phone down a little bit lower, so I'll talk louder so hopefully you guys can hear me. But I think he's pulling the dude over behind me. Sweet, we didn't get caught. Oh crap, he just passed that guy. Alright, well, cross your fingers it's not me, you guys. Oh, I'm really nervous. He's like actually pulling up right beside me, but I think he's gonna pass me. Can you guys hear him? And he is passing me right now. Can you guys hear that? Sweet, it's not me. I'm officially safe. Alright. Okay, well now that I'm safe, we can get back on tangent. So I don't even know where we left off. That got me nervous 'cause like, I'm supposed to be at the event, starts in 25 minutes, and if I get pulled over right now, I'd be late. So that's a good sign. And that actually happened to me one time. We were doing an event at our old office. I was on the freeway and I was already running late and I got, so I was speeding and I got pulled over. So I showed up to my own event like 20 minutes late, which was really, you know, not a good thing obviously. Anyway, so I don't know where I left off, but I think I left off somewhere. Oh, so what I'm thinking about doing, and I don't know, but I think this would be cool, but I don't know how to do it the right way. So if you guys have any ideas, let me know. But, you know, I watch Shark Tank a lot and that's a cool premise. But like, you know, you get to see them pitch a deal and that's kind of it. Then you see like The Profit, which is cool because then Marcus comes in and like rebuilds whole businesses and that's fun. I want to do like a hybrid of that. How do we make something where it's an online thing and people can kind of come and say, hey Russell, here's our business. You know, we're going to be the owners, operators, and runners, but we want you to come in and do your, you know, the 3 or 4 things that Russell's actually good at, I get to come and do in exchange for equity. Wouldn't it be fun to do something like that where people come and they get to present it to me and then we get to pick which ones we want to work with and then over the year like capture the story of that and film it and then make like a mini TV show, online TV show showing that process. How many of you guys would like that? How many of you guys think that'd be pretty dang cool? So that's what I'm kind of looking at like the future like, you know, like just finding cool, 'cause I was telling Jason O'Neill who's one of our Inner Circle members who today, either today or tomorrow, he's gonna pass $1 million in sales since he joined the Inner Circle. Super exciting. But I was telling him, I'm like, man, getting $25,000 from you to sign up was really, really cool, but what would be cooler is if I got 20% of everything you did. That would've been way cooler if I would've structured it that way. We didn't. So I'm trying to find the right projects and deals where we can do that. And so I'm like, how do we do that but then make it in a fun way where everyone else can see behind the scenes and watch it? 'Cause I like to show that kind of stuff. I think there's value. So anyway, so I'm thinking about that. So if any of you guys have an idea, 2 things, first off, we need a cool name for it. Without a cool name, it's not worth doing, right? That's just, the name is like 90% of it. So if there's a cool name, I'll probably do it. And then we need a cool concept because I don't want it to be like Shark Tank, you come pitch me, and that's just, I don't wanna be a me too. I don't wanna be like Marcus Lemonis. I want something cool where we figure out a cool blend of that. We were thinking about doing something ahead of time where people get to apply between now and the Funnel Hacking event. In the Funnel Hacking event, have people come and like present there, do a whole session where people can present their business and show, like let everyone watch that process. I think that'd be kind of fun as well. So, I don't know, who knows if that'll happen before then, but I think it'd be kind of a cool concept. So, anyway, that's some of the stuff that I'm thinking about. So, for you guys' business, I wonder what you guys are all thinking about. I hope that this is, after you get the initial foundation built where you got good offer and traffic and customers. It really comes down to like, how do you make exciting, fun, cool things that people want to participate in? You know, how do you change this, whoa, sorry, I just hit the traffic on the freeway, crap. I bet you we're getting close to Brent's wreck actually. I bet that's where the cop was going to. Great, I'm gonna be stuck behind all these people because of Brent's. Brent's gonna make me late to this event now. So that's kind of my thoughts. And yeah, I hope you guys are having fun with your business. If it's not fun, then why are we even doing this? And the hard part obviously is initially like getting the offers and the structure and the funnels and the audience. But after you have the audience, it can become really fun. It's like, how do we inspire people? How do we motivate them? How do we get them excited about our product, our service, what we're doing? Doing. Anyway, with that said, that's about it, you guys. We're not gonna see Brent 'cause I'm stuck on the freeway. I'm 20 minutes out and I'm not even moving right now. So cross your fingers I make the thinner circle on time. If not, it's all Brent's fault, not mine. Just kidding. And yeah, so appreciate you guys. Have an amazing day and I'll talk to you guys all again soon. Bye.
