A parent running faster and faster on a treadmill of work and spending gains nothing but exhaustion. Cut one non-essential expense to create margin for time with your family. Real responsibility includes rest, not endless hustle.

Are you? Treadmill dad. What's a treadmill? Dad's favorite exercise. It's running faster and faster while getting nowhere that matters. And it felt like I was sprinting on that treadmill. It kept speeding up. Every time that I thought I had found a rhythm, rhythm of life, it would just be ripped out like a rug under my feet. Our money was spent before I held it. Our energy was gone before we got home. Our patience was thin. Before we even walked through the door. I had to step off of that treadmill. And you know what happened? The world didn't end. We didn't collapse financially. We didn't lose everything. And instead we gained margin. Peace, time, presence. The things that we were sprinting towards were right there the whole time. We couldn't see them while we were running. Identify one expense that you're sprinting to afford that doesn't actually add value to your family. Cut it out and use that financial margin to create time. Use that time to be present with your family. And watch how that one small decision to chalk, to step off of the treadmill creates a cascade of better ones for you and for your family. You're not on the treadmill because you're weak. You're on it because you're loyal. You're loyal to this idea of responsibility. And this is what responsible people do. Responsibility without rest is just exhaustion. With a better marketing campaign, you're allowed to stop running. And the moment you do is the moment that you realize what you are missing the entire time that you were sprinting on that treadmill.
