In this episode of the "Marketing Your Car" podcast, host Russell opens with a high‑energy introduction to the funnel‑hacking community, mentioning co‑founders, upcoming collaborators, and the weekly ritual of building funnels. He then shares a personal anecdote from teaching a church class, where he chose to examine the marketing tactics of Satan as a provocative case study. Russell contrasts his own experience as a former Mormon missionary—selling a demanding lifestyle—against Satan’s challenge of selling eternal damnation, highlighting how Satan reframes negative concepts as positive to attract followers. Using this analogy, Russell explains how funnel hackers can reposition perceived negatives in their own offers as benefits, illustrating the principle with a detailed walkthrough of ClickFunnels’ webinar funnel launch. He describes how each stage (waiting periods, live training, post‑live access) was repeatedly marketed as a unique advantage, turning potential drawbacks into selling points. The episode concludes with promotional plugs for the Funnel Hacker reality show, the project’s Facebook group, and a free MP3 giveaway, while Russell signs off with a reminder that listeners are "just one funnel away from their dreams."

Welcome to Marketing Your Car, the podcast for funnel hackers everywhere. You're now part of a small group of underground entrepreneurs who are trying to change the world through the products and the services that we believe in. But because we don't rely on venture capitalists, we don't have financial safety nets, so we have to do things differently. We have to do things smarter. We do that through an art and a science we call funnel hacking. This podcast will give you a glimpse at the daily life of a funnel hacker. So let's get started. What's up everybody? This is Russell, welcome to Marketing Your Car. Hope you guys are pumped for today. It's Monday, we're gonna build funnels today, woohoo! Stephen Larsen's little daughter just sent me the cutest message ever about building funnels and every Monday or so, not every Monday but most Mondays, all the good Mondays, Stephen messages me in the morning and says, "This Monday baby, we're gonna build funnels." He did it today and he had his cute little daughter saying, anyway messaging, same thing, it was so cute. Woo, yeah baby, it's Monday! Oh yeah baby, it's Monday! We get to build funnels, woo! Build funnels, woo! Anyway, so I'm excited, heading in. Dylan and Wynter Jones, Dylan's my co-founder in ClickFunnels, Wynter's his twin brother who is also ninja. They are gonna be here the next 2 weeks building out, updating the editor, making sure that everything is even more amazing than it already is, if that's even possible. Jamie Smith's in the house, he's gonna be working with us to take over the world, and then Todd's coming next week Next week Ryan might be coming after that. Anyway, it's just fun. We have a bunch of people coming out to plan world domination and to better serve all of you guys, so I'm excited for that. All right, so during my short commute today, I wanna share with you guys something kinda fun. So yesterday I taught a class in church, and it's kinda cool 'cause usually there's like a lesson, a curriculum, but like once a month they let people kinda pick what they wanna teach, and so I got one of those lessons, which was really cool. So I had to pick whatever I wanted to teach, and so I was like, what do I wanna teach today? What I decided to do was to basically look at the marketing plans of Satan and how he is getting people. I think my group probably thinks I'm weird because I was like, "Look, everyone here is talking about church and religion and all that kind of stuff, but I'm really impressed with how good Satan is at marketing. He's getting people to do all sorts of crazy stuff that they shouldn't normally be doing, yet he's doing it." I talked about how, for those who know me, I was a Mormon missionary when I was 19 years old for 2 years. I talked about, I was like, "That was a hard sales pitch. We're going door to door and I'm trying to convince people." people. They have to give up alcohol, tobacco, coffee, and tea, all premarital, extramarital sex, 10% of your income for the rest of your life. And if you don't screw it up, you may get salvation. I was like, that's our sales pitch, which is a pretty tough sales pitch, right? But I was like, but Satan's sales pitch is even harder. He's selling eternal damnation. Like, that's what he's got to sell. I'm like, how in the world is he getting so many people? Because that's what he's got to sell. I'm like, as a marketer, I'm fascinated. I want to study this. So that was my lesson, was breaking it down about what he's doing and why he's doing it, all sorts of stuff. But what was interesting, not that we should learn from Satan, this podcast is going really bad, but if we were to learn from Satan, because he's really good at marketing, it's interesting, like there's a scripture in Isaiah that basically says that in the last days, woe unto them that call evil good and good evil. And that was kind of the premise, was that if you look at what Satan's done is instead of him just going directly and like trying to market the thing, 'cause the thing is really hard to market, eternal damnation, like who really wants to buy that, right? So instead what he does is he takes things that are evil and makes them good, and things that are good and makes them appear evil. And I'm not gonna mention those because I'm sure I'll get in rants and fights with people, and so I'll let you interpret that how you want. But that's what he's doing nowadays, right? Is he's looking at those kind of things and he's figuring out how to position them differently so that people think that they're good, so that bad is good and good is bad. And I think he's doing a fantastic job. If you look at the world that we live in today, I mean, I try not to post things on Facebook, but sometimes I do, and it's insane, like things that are so good that I will share and I'll get comments from people that are like the opposite side. It's like, wow, how in the world you interpret it that way? But that's what he's done. He's done a really good job. So how can we use this lesson from Satan in our marketing? I don't know if we even should, maybe I should just stop right here. But again, a master marketer obviously. So think about that like in your business, a lot of times there are things that aren't as good. So how do you, not spin those things, but how do you position them in a way where the negatives are actually positives and the positives are also positive? You don't wanna do it the other way. But think about that like, this is kind of a, I don't know if this is a good podcast for me to have. Maybe I should delete this thing. Just because I don't want people thinking I'm studying Satan for marketing. 'Cause I'm not. But I'm just saying it's interesting. And like, always looking at the positive, right? Like when we launched ClickFunnels, it was interesting. So we were doing, we launched the webinar selling funnel hacks. And it was about 4 weeks before we launched the funnel hacks course, right? And so the negative was like, If you signed up, you have to wait 4 weeks before you get in. But I was able to sell towards that. Look, this is the deal. You get in, you play the software, you got a whole bunch of time to study it and get prepared, and then in 4 weeks, we're gonna start the live training. That gives you plenty of time to get ready and prepared. So I'm selling it as a benefit, right? And then the next week, as I keep selling this thing, I'm like, hey guys, the new people coming in, hey, in 3 weeks we're starting round. You got 3 weeks to get ready. And then the next time it was 2 weeks, then 1 week, then hey, live training's starting tomorrow. That's why you gotta get in. So selling that big positive benefit, right? And then the week after that, After, so we'd started the training, so I'm still selling, obviously selling it, and I was like, hey look, this is the deal, for everyone, the live training started last week, that means you guys are huge, huge benefit, means if you sign up right now, means you can go watch last night, last week's training today, get caught up, and then by week 2, you'll be ready. And then week 2, I was like, hey, this is the deal, live training started 2 weeks ago, it's so exciting for you guys, you're gonna start right, so no matter where I was in the sequence, I was always selling the benefit of of the fact, like the fact that they had 4 weeks before it started was a huge benefit. The fact that it started 2 weeks ago was a huge benefit. Like no matter where it was in the mix, I had to sell that as the big benefit. Same thing with like when the live training actually was over, it was no longer live, I couldn't sell like the fact, you know, when I'm selling live, it's like you can come on to ask your Q&A, it's gonna be awesome. Whereas afterwards, like there's no live training, so I can't sell that as a benefit. So I'm like, well, this is the huge benefit about this is like, you don't have to, like everyone else had to wait 6 weeks to get this stuff, "You can go watch it all this weekend if you want," and that becomes the big benefit. It's just finding those things that may not be as good and making them, or finding things that someone might look at as a negative and turning it into a positive. Anyway, there's Satan marketing lessons 101. Oh man, I'm gonna post this. I'm sure some of you guys are gonna hate me afterwards, and hopefully all the rest of you guys will just laugh and move on with your day. Yeah, that's all I got. All right guys, appreciate you all. At the office. I'm gonna go repent and get back to focusing on helping you guys out. Alright, talk soon. Thanks so much for listening.
