Russell Brunson sold 12,500 copies of his book in about a day and launched a weekly Journey blog documenting his path to a million copies sold. He's building a content ecosystem across podcast, blog, YouTube, and a behind-the-scenes show, with a formula of 6 minutes daily for the podcast and 10 minutes weekly for the blog.

Welcome to Marketing Your Car, the podcast for funnel hackers everywhere. You're now part of a small group of underground entrepreneurs who are trying to change the world through the products and the services that we believe in. But because we don't rely on venture capitalists, we don't have financial safety nets, so we have to do things differently. We have to do things smarter. We do that through an art and a science we call funnel hacking. This podcast will give you a glimpse at the daily life of a funnel hacker, so let's get started. Good morning everybody, guess what? Guess what? First off, it's raining outside, which is cool. Second off, I'm heading to the office, which is cool. And third off, it's been a little over 24 hours since we launched the book, and guess what? We sold over 10,000 copies, what? Now honestly, my goal when we first got started was 10,000 copies the first week. Last time it took us almost a month to sell 10,000 copies. I'm like, if we did it in a week, that'd be amazing. And we did it yesterday, and it wasn't quite 24 hours, it was like 27, so technically it's a little longer than a day, but I'm counting it. I'm calling it 10,000 in a day. 'Cause that's what we did. Anyway, so insane. Everyone who first off bought, thank you. Everyone who promoted, thank you. And everyone who's continued to promote, that's awesome. So this morning I woke up, we're at 12,500 books and it just keeps on rolling. So I'm just gonna keep on rolling and see, you know, with the DotCom Secrets book, I think we're either we're almost or we just hit like 100,000 copies, like somewhere in there. Total for the last like 2 and a half years. I think with this momentum, I think we're gonna hit 100,000 copies this month, which was, that was our initial goal, which I thought was kind of far-fetched, but now I'm like, dang, I wonder if we actually could. Which is kind of crazy and exciting all wrapped into one amazing thing. So anyway, that's kind of what's happening over here on this side of the world, and it's just insanely cool. So, alright, so today I wanna talk about, I think I've talked about this before, mentioned it, but I'm trying to get it live today. It's technically kind of live, I didn't mean to give you live, but I forgot I made a new footer graphic, and everyone in the footer started clicking on it, clicking in, so now technically it's live 'cause there's comments and things happening. So first off, the nice thing with ClickFunnels now is you can save sections, and so I created a cool footer section that I'm putting on all of my pages. Actually, there's two footers. There's like a footer for like my main pages, and there's a mini footer for like sales and upsell pages. So anyway, there's two footers, but I designed them perfectly, and now I just, every page I make, I just go and add it, boom, boom, boom, and then they're on all the pages, right? And so one of them, it links to my new blog, which is a journey of how I went from zero to a million copies of the book, which is kinda cool, right? So I'm calling this a journey blog, which some of you I may already call that, but I'm copying it. And I initially saw GrooveHQ do it with their software, and they told this journey how they went from zero to 100,000 MRR. And then I saw Neil Patel do it, going from zero to 100,000 visitors a month on his blog. And so I'm doing it from going from zero to a million copies of the book sold. And so I think I got the first like 8 posts up there. So the last 2 months I've been doing these posts one a week, kinda going through all the pre-launch of the book. And so it's kinda cool, so it's this journey blog that takes you through this journey. 'Cause I figure, I think blogging's boring. 'Cause it's just like these random blog posts about whatever. But with the journey blog, it's kinda like this podcast. People tell me they listen to 2 or 3 episodes of the podcast, they get hooked, they go back to the very beginning and listen to like, and they binge listen to like every episode, right? Which is kinda cool. Which is hard to do when you have like a 2-hour long show, so that's why I like doing these short ones. You can go in, you can binge listen. And so the thing with this blog is I want people coming in on like week 22, reading something cool that we did and they'll be like, wait, they're at 80,000 books sold? How'd they start this journey? And then going back to page 1 and then going through and boom, going through this whole timeline journey of zero to a million and binge read the entire blog. So that's kind of the goal with the blog, which I think is kind of cool. So you guys can see it, it's at russellbrunson.com. I haven't really started promoting it yet, but if you wanna see, I'm trying to get it all done today. 'Cause I'm also having links to all of our courses, our products, our like everything else I do on that blog just 'cause right now, I don't really have anywhere that has that. People always ask like, where can I buy your stuff, Russell? I'm like, you have to randomly find the place. So soon it'll be like, go to russellbrunson.com, my blog's there and you can find links to all of our products, events, training programs, software, blah blah blah blah blah. So that's kind of what's happening over there. But it's kind of fun. So the Journey blog's happening, we have a YouTube show that's gonna be happening, obviously we have this podcast, and it's kind of cool. I'm starting to get a way to publish on all these different platforms. I've always struggled for the last 14 years figuring that out. How do you blog and how do you video and how do you do all these different things? And I think it's really figuring out for you something you can be consistent at. So like, when I launched this podcast, it was like, it's something that, I call it marking your car 'cause as you know, it's the drive from my house to my office. So it's like, I do that every day. And usually I don't have time to do anything else when I'm driving, so it's perfect time for me to do it. So I know I consistently can do it, which is why it's been like, what, 350 or 400 episodes or whatever, just 'cause it's like an easy thing for me to do. The blog was hard for a long time because I didn't know how to blog or why to blog. Now it's like I have a thing. It's like once a week I document what we did this week to sell a million copies of the book. And it's like, oh, I can do that. And I don't actually write the blog. I hate WordPress. In fact, every time I log into WordPress I just, I don't swear, but like if I was a swearing person I'd be cursing and like, ugh, I hate it. So I figured it out. I got two guys on my team, Levi, who's a really good writer, and so I vox him my blog post. And then he logs in and writes the whole thing. And then Jake, who's a great designer, comes in and designs it all up. And I got a blog post, I'm a blogger. And all I do is I do one Vox a week on Friday before I leave, recapping what we did in the last week to sell a million copies of the book. Which is super cool, so something I can actually consistently do. And then the YouTube thing, same thing. We've been trying to figure out a nice YouTube strategy and we're about to launch a TV show called Funnel Hacker TV which is insane. The only problem with it is it's like an hour-long episode and we recorded 10 episodes last year and it's been like all this effort to get them all done and live. So they're gonna be going live here in a little bit but I was like, my YouTube strategy can't just be big hits, right? I need something in between. So what I did is I bought this little Sony camera, little Handycam thing, and we're calling it Funnel Hacker TV Behind the Scenes Show. So as I do everything throughout the day, I'm just carrying this little thing around, I'm recording, telling the story. Okay, this is what's happening, okay, so we're going, and I'm just telling the story. And then there's a dude that I met named Kevin who's awesome, and I just drop all the videos from the camera each night into Dropbox, and he's turning them into these cool shows. So it's like I just gotta carry this camera with me and record stuff and if I don't feel like recording in a day then I don't. But if I try to do 3 or 4 days a week that have actually cool stuff happening, jump in the Dropbox for him, he makes a video and now we're, anyways that's gonna be the YouTube channel which is launching soon. So it's kinda cool, I got a couple different channels happening and I always tell people like you shouldn't go and try to publish like 12 places right out of the get-go but eventually you kinda should be moving towards that. But like mastering one channel first and then like kinda slowly adding things in as you can. But now that I'm kinda getting into my daily routine, or into my routine, it's not super difficult and super hard. It's just taking a little bit of time. It takes 6 minutes a day to do my podcast. It takes 10 minutes a week to do my blog. And it takes an extra minute throughout the day each time I'm doing something to kinda explain what I'm doing instead of just doing it. And anyway, it's kinda cool. So that's what's happening here. There's the timeline blogs, 'cause that's the next thing coming up. YouTube channel will be next after that. Oh, and then, well, there's other cool stuff, but I don't wanna get you guys overwhelmed. People are always like, you do too much stuff, Russell. I'm like, no, I spend like a year or 5 years or 10 years figuring out how to plug it into my daily routine, and then it's not doing a lot of extra work. It's just kinda like, oh, Russell, you're a blogger now. No, it literally takes me 10 minutes a week, so it's not that hard, right? So anyway, alright, with that said, hopefully you guys are thinking about your content plan and schedule and things and figuring out like a way to do it that you can be consistent with. I got one last hint for you guys. I'm not gonna tell you the answer, but I'm gonna give you a hint. So if you go to twocommaclub.com, and I think it's just the number 2, c-o-m-m-a-c-l-u-b.com, you'll see our Two Comma Club and all of our members, right? In that video, I tell a story about somebody who, for me, broke the 4-minute mile, okay? And I want you to go and watch that video because there's a hint. Something, I just purchased something related to that video. And I can't tell you what it is yet, but it's insanely cool. In fact, I've only told one person ever, and it was Stu McLaren, and I told him right before he did an interview with me yesterday 'cause I just couldn't hold it in anymore. No one else knows yet, it's kind of top secret. People will find out probably about 2 weeks from now. But anyway, watch that video, and I purchased something insanely cool based on Something I talk about in that video. So that's how you get, there's a hint. Stay tuned for future episodes to find out the answer, but it's super cool and I can't even wait to share with you guys. So that's all I got. Appreciate you all, have a fun day, and I'm gonna go work on my blog. Bye everybody. Thanks so much for listening. We hope you enjoyed the behind the scenes look at our funnel hacking projects.
