Should I Start My Own Reality Show?
4 May 2016 · 11 min
In this solo episode of the Marketing in Your Car podcast, Russell Brunson shares an unannounced, behind‑the‑scenes plan to launch a reality‑style series called Funnel Hacker TV. He explains how the show will document the end‑to‑end creation of marketing funnels—ranging from the Biohacking Secrets launch with Anthony DiClementi to a high‑ticket webinar with Robert Kiyosaki—capturing strategy sessions, ad testing, live webinars, and real‑time income reports. Brunson outlines a 12‑episode roadmap, proposes community‑driven “hackathon parties” where fans watch new episodes together, and suggests a tiered certification model with exclusive merch boxes. He also details production logistics, including coaching his new team member Stephen Larsen on‑camera, filming multiple funnel projects simultaneously, and maintaining full transparency with monthly revenue dashboards. The episode closes with promotional plugs for the Marketing in Your Car email list, the Marketing Quickie Show on Periscope, and related URLs (marketinginyourcar.com, marketingquickieshow.com).

Hey, hey, hey! Hope you guys are doing amazing. Welcome to Marketing in Your Car. Welcome to the Marketing in Your Car podcast, where you can increase your traffic, conversions, and sales in just 10 minutes a day. And now, here's your host, Russell Brunson. All right, so I did one this morning, a podcast, it was 3 minutes long, as I was preparing for our meeting, and I was talking really fast, and hopefully some of you guys got some cool value out of that. But I have one I wanna talk to you guys about and I just have been all bottled up because I've had 9 o'clock meetings when usually I'm in the car right before 9 and anyway, I've just had less time to talk and hang out and so I'm going right now to the store to grab some stuff for my wife so this gives me a cool opportunity to share some cool stuff with you guys. Hope you don't mind. So, I am crazy excited right now about something that we're doing that I think is gonna be amazing. So, I don't know, I'm kinda nervous to tell you guys but not even everyone on my team, not even my partners know this yet so Todd will probably find out about this from this podcast maybe Dylan, I don't know if he listens or not, but kind of what we're thinking. So, how has marketing been done up to this point, right? It's all about creating cool funnels, driving traffic, and that conceptual thing, right? Or doing Periscopes or Hangouts or cool things, and it's like, I wanna try to figure out, like, I always wanna be like the next level, like the bleeding edge, right? I want the next cool thing, and I'm trying to really figure out like how do we, like I feel like we've built a really cool brand and a community and all this kind of stuff, like how do we, How do we expand that? How do we take that to the next level and really make it bigger and better? And so that was the question, right? So last week my wife and I were out visiting our nanny, just had a baby, so we went and saw her, saw the baby and everything, and then we were driving around and we were talking before we went to Jack in the Box. Was it Jack in the Box? Anyway, some horrible fast food restaurant that tasted way too good and definitely not on any of the diets on earth, but nevertheless went there with the kids. And as we're driving, we were talking about HGTV's Flip That House, and we're talking about just some things like that, and as we were driving, all of a sudden, this inspiration, I feel like, just hit me from above, thinking, saying, you know, the cool thing about those shows, they pick a house, they rehab a house, you watch the whole process, and then in that process, they're telling their backstory and telling all these things, and they have all these sub-storylines happening, but it's like each week there's a house that they're finding, they're rehabbing it, flipping it, whatever, and just making it awesome. And that was our favorite one, Chip and Joanne Gaines, but all the house shows are similar, right? And I was thinking about, we're working I'm working on a lot of side projects, like things I'm kinda doing on the side, funnels we're building for companies that we've traded equity for, things like that. And I was like, wouldn't it be cool if we made our own reality TV show? And show behind the scenes so people could actually see what happens. And I started thinking through the different funnels I'm working, like one of them is Biohacking Secrets with my friend Anthony DiClementi. And we've already recorded so much cool footage of him in his cryo sauna with his, laser lights and all these crazy, crazy, like the visuals are already amazing, 'cause we've been filming the whole process and we're about to do this launch now. I'm like, you know, we're building all this stuff behind the scenes, no one gets to see it, and it doesn't really help the ClickFunnels community other than someone might hear about it later. I'm like, what if that became the thing and each week we pick a funnel that we're building out anyway and we build it out live and everyone gets to see the story and it's not just like a boring thing of us in an office like blah, blah, blah, but make it fun and exciting, have storylines and a whole bunch of things like that. That's kind of the idea. So we mapped out the first 12 episodes, 12 funnels, and some of them are projects like the Biohacking Secrets, the Prove It Funnels we're working on, a couple things like that. And some of them, like for example, tomorrow I'm actually gonna be interviewing, or he's interviewing me I guess, or something, I don't even know. Robert Kiyosaki and I are getting on an Appear.in meeting and we're recording it to pre-record this intro for the webinar, 'cause me and him are doing a big webinar next month. And he can't show up on it live 'cause he's gonna be out of the country, so we're filming like the intro together and then we're gonna show the intro and then I'll do the webinar live to his whole list. And his list is crazy huge, so like we could in theory, I don't know, do half a million to a million dollar webinar. And wouldn't that be a cool episode to like film that whole thing, like film me tomorrow as I'm driving to the office freaking out excited and then they're like filming behind the scenes of me interviewing Kiyosaki and us being on this thing together and then filming the actual webinar happening and showing all the nervousness before and showing people registering and showing up and stats and numbers and then us doing the webinar and showing the pitch and the close and the percentages and just, showing the whole thing. Wouldn't that be awesome? Or with Biohacking Secrets, like we're about to launch that, it's a free book funnel plus a tele-summit funnel plus a webinar and a high-ticket funnel. All of it's like 90% done so we're gonna fly Anthony out and like film the story of us launching this thing and how we buy the ads and how we get the right things and testing the campaigns and seeing what's converting and what's not converting and like doing all the stuff we do anyway but showing you guys behind the scenes of it in a really cool, fun, exciting, thing, wouldn't that be fun? So that's kinda the first half and I'm like, you know, again, I'm trying to get, how do we make this exciting and engaging? And so recently one of our fellow funnel hackers started working for me and he's in the office and sits like right behind my desk. His name's Stephen Larsen, some of you guys may know him. And so he's been actually, like I've been focusing a little more on strategy since he's been here and he's been focusing on building out and we kinda go back and forth until something looks really, really good. And so I thought like the show, instead of like me just talking about it and building it and like being this annoying person who like thinks, like he's really important, which I'm not. Instead, like, wouldn't it be cool if it's like, I'm coaching, which I'm doing anyway, but I'm coaching Stephen through building these funnels and doing the whole process, and then he gets to ask questions and be in on strategy meetings and all these kind of things, and that way you guys get a unique view where it's not just in my head what's happening, but it's me explaining to him what's happening, so he's kind of in proxy of the rest of the audience, learning along as this thing's happening, and as we're building it out, and then seeing behind the scenes as we do the pages and the funnels, Anyway, I'm so excited. So we start filming some of them today. We work on the Prove It funnel, so we film behind the scenes of us doing the whole strategy session, pre-launch stuff. And then next week I'm flying out to actually speak at a network marketing event and a Prove It event, so we're gonna film me in the air flying there, telling the story, all those kind of things. And then my next book's coming out, so we're gonna film that story and we're gonna show you behind the scenes of that book funnel. But I'll show you behind the scenes of the Tony Robbins book funnel, Dave Asprey's book funnel, and all the other ones we've done, and just kind of like episode by episode build out different things and show you behind the scenes what we're doing and why we're doing it and how we're doing it the actual numbers and the actual stats and having complete transparency. The other cool thing we thought is like, we have an episode that goes live, like on the site, let's say we have the episode there, then you could see like each month by month we could do like income reports similar to what JLD does at Entrepreneur on Fire and show each month like, Biohacking Secrets launch, month 1 we did this, month 2, month 3, and show like this running stats of what each of these little businesses, each of these funnels is actually generating for us. And just try to be completely transparent so you guys can look at what we're doing and then funnel hack it for your own businesses. So that's the idea, and I'm excited. I hope you're excited. Like, we've, it's so crazy. We got some crazy ones. One of them we're flying down to Colombia to go dropship roses. One of them, anyway, we got some crazy, crazy stuff you guys are gonna love, and you're gonna have a chance to see behind the scenes of everything. So that's the first part. The second part, I'm not sure if I should even talk about this yet, but we're trying to figure out how to make, and this idea came to me, I actually did a Periscope tonight asking our Periscope followers, like, what do you guys think about this, and trying to just get them engaged with the idea and get some of their feedback, what they'd wanna hear and see in episodes. And one thing I kind of talked about was like, I don't know if any of you guys watch the show The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, you shouldn't, but if you do, you know what I'm talking about where they, every night that it's on, like people all around America have these big, they call them bachelor parties, right? Where they get with their friends, their family, everyone gets together and they watch the episode together live. And they talk about it for the next week, waiting for the next one, right? I was like, what if we built these really cool things like mini hackathons or something where each week when the episode gets live, like people could run a hackathon in their local area, invite our friends and family members, everyone come over and watch this thing, and then watch it streaming and see the actual episode unfold and see how cool it is. Wouldn't that be awesome? And we're thinking about even having it like, kinda like a pre-level to certification, like our certified partners could run bigger versions of these, but having this as like a pre-thing where you pay a little bit to get in, and you get in, we send you a box, and the box has got like 10 Funnel Hacker t-shirts, and it's got a special gift that's only for people who are hosting Funnel Hacking Parties, and then it's got, We were talking about, Steven had the idea of making like a Leadpages dartboard and having that in there, and then like a whole bunch of awesome stuff. But that would be like, that would be the thing, and then that way we get people all around the country each week as we release these episodes, release them at the same time, get everyone on board, everyone watching together, and then commenting and sharing and talking, and make it a really cool interactive community-type building thing where we're all experiencing this together at the same time. And so, That's my thoughts. So with that said, I'd love to hear you guys' feedback. Hit me up on Facebook or wherever, just say yay or nay, or this is stupid or this is awesome, or I would love to watch that and share it with everybody I know. 'Cause we're trying to make this a cool thing. It's gonna be called Funnel Hacker TV. Some of you guys have seen, we had 2 episodes of Funnel Hacker TV in the past, but we're gonna try to make this into a real thing. And I think it's gonna be amazing. So I'm crazy excited. And we've got, like I said, we started filming the first ones today, we got a couple episodes tomorrow. So the fun thing I'm learning is, and I've always been pretty good at project management, that's what I'm normally doing, but now we're project managing like 13 funnels at once, 'cause we're filming different parts and different things with each one. And so trying to make sure we have each of the sections we need for each of the things, and anyway, it's gonna be amazing. So anyway, I just wanna share with you guys, please keep it secret, don't tell anybody else, but hope it gets you guys excited and just gets you thinking about things, cool things you can do within your own community. To get people more engaged and more excited. And I think this is gonna be it for us. I think it's gonna take the marketing to the next level and just the community and like this whole brand that we're trying to build and take it more mainstream and make it more fun and just make it not a software program. We don't want this to be that. We want this to be a cult, I mean a community. So that's the game plan. Anyway, appreciate you guys. I'm walking in the store to grab my wife's stuff. I'll talk to you guys soon. Have a great night. And I appreciate you all, and that's about it. Talk to you guys soon, bye. Hey everyone, this is Russell Brunson again.
