Kevin Ray Ward (founder of Yes Masters Real Estate Success Training) delivers a short YouTube tip (Aug 13, 2018) on increasing productivity in real estate and life by avoiding a reactionary start to the day. He argues that checking phones, email or social media first thing places you in a reactive mindset (citing a study that early email-checkers are ~30% less productive) which undermines morning rituals, focus, and goal-directed action; instead he advises establishing a strong, deliberate morning routine and reserving reactive work for later in the day. The video closes with a prompt for viewer comments and standard channel engagement requests.

If you want to succeed at a very high level in your real estate business or in anything in life, this is one thing that you must never do. Hi there, it's Kevin Ward, the founder of yes Masters Real Estate Success Training. And in this video, I want to give you one very simple but powerful tip about how to increase your productivity. This is a strategy, it's simple, it's powerful. But if you want to succeed at a very high level in your real estate business or in anything in life, this is one thing that you must never do. And here it is. Never start your day in reaction. There was a study done a few years ago that said people that check their email in the first 30 minutes of the day 10 tend to be 30% less productive than people who don't. And the reason is because if you start your day by as soon as you wake up, what's the first thing we tend to do? First thing that almost every American does now is the first thing we do is we pick up our phone and we look at it. And if you pick up your phone and you look at it and you immediately look at your Facebook, your social media, your email, your text messaging, whatever it is, if you check anything that is somebody else sending messages to you or, or some kind of push notification, you immediately put your mindset into a reactionary mode. Now, if you want to achieve your goals, if you want to achieve your aims in your life, your dreams, you cannot start your day by living in reaction. Because when we start living in reaction, the immediate thing that starts happening is we have our agenda, we have a plan. Okay, I'm going to get up tomorrow, I'm going to do this. Now, first thing, if you want to be super productive in your day, you should start with a strong morning ritual. That the perfect way to destroy a morning ritual. Starting your morning in reaction. Starting your morning by letting something or someone else set the agenda for what you're going to do, for what you're going to think, for what direction your mind is going to go. Because when you start going into reaction, you very quickly make the leap into distraction and you lose clarity, you lose direction, you lose focus, and you lose sight of your goals. If you want to increase your productivity dramatically, do never start your day in reaction. Now, is there a time to react to what's going on around to what your clients need and so forth? Yes, but not first thing in the morning. Make your morning your own. Start the day powerfully clear, focused on the things that you must do that day. That puts points on the scoreboard in your business and in your life. And when you do that, the rest of the day, once you get to the afternoon, you can start. It gets fast. You can start living in reaction or doing the things where you're reacting to what needs to be handled right now. There's a time for that and a place for that, just not in the morning. Make your morning powerful. If you have any thoughts on this, you have any questions or comments on this about how do you start your day? How do you make your day more productive?
