THE BIGGEST CHANGE NEEDED FROM AGENTS?- Kevin Ray Ward

Kevin Ray Ward argues real estate agents need to step up after recent MLS rule changes and commission lawsuits. Agents must now be properly trained, competent, and professional. Ward calls for higher standards across the industry, citing shifts that will separate serious professionals from the rest.

Ed Zorn, California Regional MLS Vice President and General Counsel.
While the masses spend their days dominated by doubt, distraction and dead ends, the masters go through their day on fire, my friend. Welcome to the Fire Zone.
Yeah, this is the one thing that needs to change in the real estate industry and that is that agents need to actually become competent. Are you kidding me? Hey there, it's your coach, Kevin Ray Ward with your firezone message of the day. And I was reading Inman News yesterday as we come up with the come up on the change of the MLS rules and all of that that came out of the class action lawsuits against real estate agents and against the real estate industry for antitrust practices of requiring or requiring that sellers post a willingness to pay commission to a buyer's agent. All of that and that is all going away coming up this next month. And so they were talking about it and this is in Inman News and it was an interview with Ed Zorn, the California Regional MLS Vice President and General counsel. And this is what he said needs to happen. With all the changes that have happened and with the changes of how buyer agent commission, all this can be paid. And here's what he said. The biggest thing that's going to change with buyer's agents is going to be the need to be properly trained and skilled in communicating about transactions and understanding value. Excuse me. The biggest thing needs to change is now agents actually need to be trained to be competent. They actually didn't need to know how to represent a client. What an amazing time that this is, that now that all this has happened, now we realize that agents actually need to know what the fuck they're doing. Are you kidding me? I'm, I'm in shock reading like that. This has been my, this is why I've been a coach for over a decade to real estate agents is looking at our industry and saying the level of incompetence is mind bending. And one of my cries, one of my battle cries for over a decade has been pros. Only amateurs not allowed go pro, be professional, represent. And it doesn't matter. I'm. This Fire Zone video is going to go to people that are agents. It's going to go to my Vortex Kings groups, people that are not agents. It doesn't matter if you're going to do something where you represent somebody else or you are doing something on behalf of somebody else. You owe it to yourself and you owe it to them to actually be competent and know what you're doing. Just raise the bar. So here is my challenge for you today. Be the leader, be the example, be the model of what it means to be the best, to be competent, to be professional, and never to show up, train, play, operate like an amateur. You, my friends, are the leaders. Leaders do one thing, and that is they lead. And they lead from greatness. No matter what.
