Kevin Ray Ward explains the OODA Loop, a decision model from Air Force Colonel John Boyd, for real estate agents. Observe, Orient, Decide, Act: the agent who cycles through fastest wins against competitors and the market. Ward says you need to constantly reassess what's working and adjust immediately.

I was reading the other day about this thing called the OODA Loop. It was a thing that was created by a Air Force officer that was designed as a framework for how to make clear, powerful decisions rapidly. It was designed for fighter pilots. You get into a combat situation and you got to be able to see what's going on and make a decision and take action immediately. It's life and death. OODA stands for Observe, Orient, decide and act. Observe what's going on, orient, figure out what that means and analyze and assess what it means. And then decide means decide what to do about it. And then four is act. You got to take action on it before the other person, before the adversary, before your opponent has a chance to act. Now, sometimes the opponent is a competitor, sometimes the opponent is age, sometimes the opponent is opportunity or time. How quickly can you observe what's going on rapidly and radically, accept reality, orient yourself to what is going on and how to react to it, what you do about it, and then make a decision, decide and then take action on it to make it work. And then as you act, you got to keep observing. You got to keep orienting yourself and going like, how's that working? And then you have to decide and then act. Observe, orient, decide and act constantly keep doing it. And what I'm going to challenge you to do is do that today. What's happening in my life that's working, that's not working. And I know something needs to happen. I need to make a decision. I need to make a change. The one who wins is the one who is most consistent and vigilant and willing to make decisions quickly, to observe, orient, decide and act faster than anybody else. You win or you lose based on how quickly you can assess and adapt to what's happening.
