A thousand minute rule. I think it's Ryan Serhant that came up with the rule and it completely changes the way you see the day. Here's what the thousand minute rule is. Day you have a thousand minutes that you can be productive. If you break that down, there's 14, 40 minutes in a day. So a thousand minutes is about 16, a little over 16 and a half hours, which gives you about seven and a half hours for sleep. So you've got about 16 and a half hours a day. About a thousand minutes a day can actually be productive. And so he said, pretend like just see your thousand minutes as $1,000. And so if you just see it in this relative terms of you get $1,000 every day to spend any way you want to. Now what are you going to do with that thousand dollars? How are you going to spend it? And when you compare it and just realize if you trade a minute for a dollar and you just think of it as this is like $1,000 that I get to spend today. How am I going to spend it? Am I going to spend 15 minutes doing this? But I spend $15 and just flush away $15 on this conversation with somebody or watching this video or whatever. How am I spending my minutes? And consider it like dollars or how much of my day am I going to lose because something bad happens? Like how do I deal with a problem? So let's just say that you have one bad phone call or you have one bad conversation that is just like wrecks your whole day, right? And that conversation was only four minutes long. And so it's like you just lost four dollars. If it's thousand minute rule, it's thousand dollars. You just lost four minutes, four bad minutes. Are you going to allow it? Would you flush 996 minutes or $996 because of four bad dollars? You lost $4. Are you willing to flush the other $996 today or are you going to take it, put it into context and realize, hey, it was four minute conversation, something bad happened, it's done, it's over. Now I've got 996 minutes today left that I can make something great happen. So spend your time every day as every minute is currency. It's not just how you use your time, it's like how you use your moments. Every moment matters. Every moment has value. And you can make the most of it and create the results in your life that you want or you'll waste it. How are you going to spend it in a way that will build your life.
