In this monologue, Alexander Lorenzo explains a year‑and‑a‑half research project where he examined the top 500 market‑cap cryptocurrencies, identified those that achieved the highest price multiples, and classified them using Robert Shiller’s narrative economics framework. He assigns scores to narrative categories—digital gold, meme coins, privacy money, prediction markets, platforms (e.g., Ethereum), DeFi rails, AI‑piggyback, gaming, exchange tokens, etc.—with digital gold receiving the maximum score of 14. He then lists current coins that rank highest within these narratives (Bitcoin, Monero, Zcash, among others). Lorenzo emphasizes that price appreciation can be driven by viral narratives even when the underlying premise is false, warning crypto projects that technical merit alone is insufficient without a strong narrative strategy.

This might be the biggest find, at least the narrative economics that I've been involved with, to be honest. I've been attempting this for like a year and a half. So what I did is I went to the top market cap, to the top 500, and then picked the highest multiple coins. And I found the best ones of each cycle, high percentages, high multiples. I found the best ones. And then I tried to organize it into like a category that is vetted by a PhD, Shiller, that created narrative economics. And so here's the categories that it came up with. Digital gold scored 14. Of course, that's pretty obvious. 14, the highest score you could possibly get. The actual narratives are money, the government can print, gold standard, Bitcoiners versus the Fed. It hits every single story, which is their root story. I forgot the name they use— perennial narratives. So these are narratives that have consistently, he claims, has gone throughout time. They're every narrative. A narrative is basically a story that goes viral. Every single narrative, literally, he says they're variations of this. So he tried to basically put it into categories, and here's the scores. We have meme coins as number 2. That's accurate. The number 1 producing percentage increase coin in the world is a meme coin. So we have meme coins at number 2. We have privacy money, prediction markets, platforms— platforms are like Ethereum— DeFi rail, AI piggyback, which is like variations of AI coins, gaming, exchange coin, digital— you get the point. You see the scores. So essentially it scored it and then it looked at the current coins right now and it gave us a list. Here's the current coins, the current coins that have the highest score. So obviously Bitcoin is going to be up there. We have Monero, Zcash. I don't even know what Midnight is. One of the things that I was reading as well is that price runs on coin even void of truth. According to the narrative economics, there could be something that is not true, but it still gets like 200x. Like narratives survive without truth. I want you guys to understand that. There's many things that go viral, like what is it, fake news? Like we know this, there's many things that go viral that are not true. So just because your coin is perfect, it hits the utility, it's the most amazing thing on the face of the planet, and it's very true, if they don't know how to run a narrative, be very careful.
