Wall Street Is Quietly Locking Away 1 in Every 5 Bitcoin

Alexander Lorenzo breaks down how institutions now hold roughly 18.5% of all Bitcoin, while exchange reserves hit multi-year lows. Public companies bought more BTC than miners produced recently, and an estimated 3 to 4 million coins are lost forever, shrinking the truly available supply.
Chapters
Listen to what I'm saying. Nearly 1 out of every 5 coins that will exist on Bitcoin's blockchain is sitting in the hands of institutions. There is a tracker called Bitcoin Treasuries which counts every coin held by funds, companies, and governments. And as of late May, that's 254 institutions holding about 3.9 million Bitcoin. That is 18.6% of every coin that will ever exist. Binance's own internal research team ran the numbers separately and landed at the same conclusion, 18.5%. This is insane. 2 independent research groups are basically saying 1/5 of all the Bitcoin that will ever exist is locked up in institutions, the smart money. Just last quarter, public companies bought up almost 3 times more Bitcoin than the miners dug up. And the amount that's actually sitting on the exchange where you go and buy and sell, the coins that you and I can actually buy, just hit a 7-year low. That, my friends, is what scarcity looks like, where the supply that you could buy is drying up. This is simple supply and demand. When there's high demand for a finite scarce asset, the price goes up. Pay attention. Now that's not even including the fact that there's 60 million millionaires on earth and there will only ever be 21 million Bitcoin ever in existence. Not even every millionaire on earth can accumulate one Bitcoin if they wanted to. That's also not including the fact that there's 3 to 4 million Bitcoin lost forever that is dormant, that will never be touched in Satoshi's wallet. So you can't even actually buy that. So Real estimates are actually 16 million that will ever exist or be purchasable. So even before Wall Street showed up, there wasn't enough for the world's rich to own one coin. 2 out of the 3 millionaires will have to walk away empty-handed. But now institutions are vacuuming up a fifth of the only pile that we have that's already too small to share. You guys need to zoom out and understand the fundamental dynamics. Everybody's glued to the short-term price. Up today and down tomorrow, but they're missing the foundation, and the foundation has not moved an inch. The fundamentals are actually getting better right now as we speak. Number one, Bitcoin is the most efficient money on the face of the planet. Value moving anywhere on the earth, no matter how big the amount, in minutes without asking permission—it's cheaper, and there's nothing better. Number two, it's the most scarce and most transparent money that has ever existed—a fixed supply nobody can print more of, an open ledger. Anyone can verify. There's nothing better. And number 3, it is flat out superior to the legacy system we built in the past 100 years. So when you see Wall Street quietly locking away 1 in 5 coins, understand what they see. They're not chasing a price. They're basically claiming a piece of the best money humanity has ever made before anyone figures out there was enough to go around.
