This is a podcast titled "3 Things You Should Stop Saying If You Want Success" featuring Allie Bjerk delivering a motivational talk recorded on December 7, 2022. In this solo segment, Allie shares advice on eliminating limiting phrases like "maybe," "should," and "I wanna" from one's vocabulary to foster commitment and action in business and life for greater success.
I have three words that I want you to remove completely from your vocabulary if you want to see any level of success in your life and business. Now, number one, I want you to stop saying maybe. Stop telling yourself, maybe I'll do this, maybe I'll do that, maybe if I have time, I'll do this thing. If you're going to decide to do something, you have to fully commit. There's no room for saying maybe in your life, in your business. If you're not really into it, then don't even say you're going to do it. You have to actually go all in. You have to decide, you have to. When you put your mind to something, it's never maybe, are you going to do it or are you not going to do it? There's no room for maybe in the lives of people who want to make a really big impact and want to grow their businesses and want to become the best version of themselves. Right? Okay. The next thing you have to remove from your vocabulary is the word should. So stop telling yourself I should do this, I should do that, I should go to the gym, I should make dinner for my family. Like stop saying should. People say, like stop shoulding all over yourself, Stop saying the word should. Cause it's actually really damaging to the way that you think, to the way that you grow. What you can say instead is I would really benefit from going to the gym more often. I would really benefit from having a home cooked meal for my family so we can all sit around and you know, enjoy each other's company. Right? So it's totally different positioning. It's a way different way to think about it. You're not shaming yourself, you're not feeling bad for not doing something, you're just repositioning it. You're seeing it in a more positive light and you're saying like, oh, I would really benefit from that or my family would benefit or something in that way where you can replace that quote of saying I should go do the thing. The other and the final thing for today that I want you to stop saying inside of your business is I wanna. There's no room for wanna doing things. There is a story. Back when I was first starting my business, I was in a business mastermind and every single person, we got to do these hot seat things where we'd go stand in front of the room and every single person who stood in front of the room that I knew was successful, that I had seen present their numbers and how much money they had made and every single person that went up in front of the room that was successful. They said, I did this, I completed this thing. Anyone on the other side of the room, we weren't really on different sides of the room, but anybody who was in the camp that I was in of not doing anything and just dreaming about things, never actually finishing things, those people stood up in front of the room, myself included, we stood up in front of the room and we said, I wanna, I wanna launch this, I wanna build this, I have this idea I wanna do. We never moved beyond the wannas, right? Like, we never actually took action on things because we just talked about what we wanted to do. So I always tell my kids, I'm like, don't talk about it, be about it. Instead of saying, I wanna. What is one tiny action that you can take today? What is the path of least resistance that you can step into, that you can get done, that you can, you know, at least build some momentum? I just had a call with a friend that I'm in a business mastermind with again. I love masterminds, there's so much value in masterminds. But just got off a call. I mean, we were talking about growing and building in different directions. And the advice that I gave him was to run towards the goal as fast as you can so that you can outrun your resistance. Like, if you can sprint towards that goal before your brain catches up to you and before your brain tells you why you can't do it, or why you're not enough, or why you're not smart enough or pretty enough, young enough, skinny enough, whatever it is, before your brain can tell you you're not enough, you just gotta run. You can't wanna. You have to make a decision, commit and start moving towards that goal. Before your brain tells you you can't, you can't. You have to like run into it as fast as you can. So those are the three things you got to stop saying in your life if you want to be more successful, be happier, have everything you've ever wanted, and have a great rest of your day.
