ALLISON MASLAN: How to Tackle Really Big Goals (FOX NEWS)

Allison Maslan, a life and business strategist, explains her system for tackling big goals by breaking them into small, manageable steps. She uses a mini-feet calendar and software to track progress, and walks through examples like planning a trip to Tuscany and building healthy eating habits.
That we are time right now. 8:24. Okay. So there's that one thing you've always wanted to do, but you just can't get there. Well, the book Blast off is all about making your dreams a reality. And author Allison Maslin is here with us this morning. And you're a life coach. I think we all can use a life coach at some point.
I think so we all could use that little boost. And as a life and business strategist, and what I teach in my book is to help people really figure out what are your big dreams and goals and then how do you actually make them happen?
So first you have to have. Right, you have to have a goal.
You have to have a goal. And then, you know, sometimes we get overwhelmed because the goal seems very lofty. How do we get there? So in my blastoff system, I help people break it down into small steps. I have something called the minifeet calendar. And so many feet is a bite sized step. It's just 10 minutes long. And if you do your goal three times a day, just 10 minutes each, which, you know, we can all find 10 minutes in our day, it's amazing how much you can find.
Okay, so one of my goals is I want to do a trip to Tuscany, head to Italy. But you know, money planning, a lot goes into it.
Right. So if you don't want to wait till the last minute first, you know, if you've got several months, put what my husband and I started a travel fund and we put a little bit of money away each week. So by the time the trip comes, it's almost paid for. There's some things that you want to do. You want to be getting a book and read a little bit about Tuscany. You might want to learn a little of the language. You just put this on your Minifee calendar. Three, maybe you read the book three times a week for 10 minutes.
Okay.
You know, by the time the trip comes, you're going to be fluent in Italian.
Yes.
And you might have want to get your flip camera so you can video on the trip and put it on.
Facebook and on this computer we have the mini feats.
Yes. I have a software program that goes with it called Blastation, and it actually breaks everything down. And you can be on there and know exactly what to do every single day to reach your goals. It makes.
And let's quickly talk about my other goal, which is to eat healthier. I think we all want to do that.
Right. You want to look good for your trip to Tuscany, to be able to get into that bathing suit and everything. And it's all about making healthy choices. So just 10 minutes a day, prepare some healthy snacks so that you're not reaching for the donuts. You have your water with you. Take 10 minutes at the end of the day, take a bath, meditate. Really, it's all about rejuvenating yourself and just. But plan these things ahead of time. The whole idea of the system is really for your big dreams and goals, not your day. Yeah. Because otherwise we put those things aside, we say, I'm going to do them later on, and it never does happen. And so we need to make them a priority and bring them to the forefront of our lives.
All right. And we do want to let everyone know about the book signing that you're going to be doing. And it's tonight at 7 at the Barnes and Noble across from North Park. That's on Northwest Highway. And we also have a link on our website and more information about the book. Myfoxdfw.com just go to the Good day page and then click on links. Thanks for coming in. We appreciate it.
Thank you for having me.
