This is a YouTube video titled "How to Make a Decision and Escape Analysis Paralysis" featuring Allison Maslan delivering a motivational talk recorded in August 2015. In the video, Allison shares personal insights and advice on overcoming indecision and moving forward in business and life by making quick decisions, illustrated with a personal story about cliff jumping.
Hi, everyone, it's Alison. People ask me a lot of times, how do you keep so many balls in the air in your businesses? And one thing I will say is that I've become really adept at making quick decisions. When you make a decision, it moves the energy forward. When you are analyzing things or you get stuck into that analysis paralysis or that horrible place called limbo, then you have a choke hold on the energy and nothing is moving. And we're often afraid to make a decision because we don't want to make a mistake or make the wrong mistake. I think Theodore Roosevelt said something like, the best decision is the right decision, the next best decision is the wrong decision, and the worst decision is no decision. So my husband and I went to Sedona this past weekend, and we went to this amazing place called Slide Rock, and we went cliff jumping. And, you know, I was pretty scared. And my husband said, you know what? Just run and jump. Because if you get to the ledge and you look down and you think about it too long, you won't go. So we're pretty competitive with one another. So I wasn't going to have him go and me not do it. So that's exactly what I did. And I ran and jumped. I didn't have time to get scared. So I'm not telling you you have to go jump off a cliff. But you're probably sitting on three major decisions right now. So I challenge you before the end of the day. Just check them off the list. Just make the decision and move forward. And whether it's the right decision or the wrong decision, it's least going to move you forward to the next best thing for you and your business. And that's all I got for you today. All right, until next time. It's Alison. And talk to you soon.
