This is a YouTube video titled "Molly Mahoney Shares How to go GLAM! Go Live And Monetize!" recorded in August 2021. The content features a business-focused presentation and interactive Q&A session hosted by Allison Maslan, CEO of Pinnacle Global Network, with Molly Mahoney, a digital growth strategist and Facebook marketing expert. The discussion centers on building and monetizing online communities, leveraging Facebook groups and pages, content repurposing, and marketing automation tools. The video includes multiple participants engaging in a live event format, with Allison Maslan moderating and contributing throughout.
But my question for you is how do you balance the difference between or balance the leads between a platform centered group and having control over that group?
We also always get a phone number where we give the opportunity to get a phone number. And just because I know we can speak honestly here, never in my life have I been so like, really Facebook, you know, where it's still my favorite platform and we're still getting a lot of results from it. But do I trust that they'll look out for me? Do I know that my whole group and page could disappear like that? Yeah.
Welcome to the Scale or fail show. I am your host, Alison Maslin. I am your business mentor and the CEO of Pinnacle Global Network where we mentor business owners all over the world on how to grow and scale. And the Scale or fail show is for you to help you to reach your goals in a fraction of the time because we share the most amazing business strategies and we bring in top business experts to make the road easier for you. And today it's kind of a unique show because I am going to bring to you one of the most amazing presentations from a recent event that I had, one of our Pinnacle Global Network events with an amazing woman and influencer. Her name is Molly Mahoney. And Molly presented at our recent event on how to build a flourishing community for your business. Why do you want a community? Because a community is like having a massive sales force out there that loves your brand and wants to share your brand. So without further ado, here is Molly Mahoney. Molly Mahoney is known across the net as the prepared performer. She is a digital growth strategist and a master in helping entrepreneurs, artists and direct sales professionals up their visibility and online presence by helping them leverage all of the newest and most powerful features that Facebook has to offer. After reaching 1 million people organically, she developed her Circle Signature Right Signature program, Go live and monetize Glam Method. Molly has been featured in Ink magazine and you may recognize her from her weekly shows, live tv, both on Facebook and on Twitch and on stages such as Social media Marketing World, Social Media Week, Austin E. Women Network and more. And she has spoken at our event before and so we are bringing her back from attracting customers to your Facebook business page, how to run highly converting Facebook ads, and how to create Facebook messenger bots that serve more of your perfect clients and customers in a uniquely authentic way. Molly Mahoney is turning heads and taking name. So that was awesome. Was that fantastic? Give her a hand. Question. How many of you feel like this doesn't apply to my kind of business. Raise your hand. Let's be honest. Raise your hand. Okay. Can I tell you that there are Facebook groups for every kind of service. Government, contracting, staffing. You want to create a community around your business. It can be sharing information. We had a pinnacle member who had created a community in the IT world around a specific type of innovation she created, and it blew up her SEO totally. She became a thought leader in the IT world. So if you're sitting there thinking that this is not for you, you've got one of those, yes, but blinders on. And you're missing out on something that could really drive business.
I have an idea, actually, that I was thinking last night. I wanted to be able to share with you. So one of our clients is a municipal tree trimming company. That might seem like something. What is a municipal tree trimming company going to do with communities on Facebook? So what they did, and they do all of the trees in almost all of California, Southern and Northern California. So they did, I don't know, 130 million or something last year. What they did was they took their Facebook page. They didn't create a group, and they made their Facebook page for their team. So now, and they don't say on the publicly like, this is for our team, but their strategy, it's all for their team. So they have photo contests every month where there are team members. They have about a thousand employees, their team members. I mean, I get goosebumps look, because I was looking at it last night thinking about you today, and there was this photo of a tree trimmer holding an owl, and it was the coolest photo. And my husband was like, yeah, well, it's because of the photo contest that you guys started several years ago. I was like, oh, that's so true. So you can use this with your team as well. The same thing saying, I see you building a community around literally anything is so possible.
And this is exactly what we were talking about earlier, and I think, Nicole, that you're on virtually, you were talking about, how do we. How do we give back to our team members? That's actually a great way to have everyone get on there, talk about what they're grateful for.
So there's a lot of family members love it. Their family members are sharing posts. It's just been really cool to see.
So that's awesome. So we'd love to take some questions from for Molly on this. So if you have questions, go up to the mic. Take advantage of her brain here. She is amazing. If you Want to get more reach? Go ahead and pop up to the mic over here.
Hi, my name is Malika Moran, and I have a marketing company called Social Step Marketing and Consulting. I consider myself a marketing therapist. I'm like the person that you talk to before you hire a marketing agency or execute. Right. And so just call me and I can put you on a couch. But my question for you is, how do you balance the difference between or balance the leads between a platform centered group and having control over that group? Because I often think about platforms like Facebook and Instagram and they might morph and change, and sometimes I flashback to my space and I'm like, okay, that could disappear. So how do you balance that?
Yeah, I love that question. And that's a huge reason why we make sure we always get an email address. We also. I didn't say it. We also always get a phone number or we give the opportunity to get a phone number. And just because I know we can speak honestly here. Never in my life have I been so, like, really Facebook, you know, where it's still my favorite platform, and we're still getting a lot of results from it. But do I trust that they'll look out for me? No. Do I know that my whole group and page could disappear like that? Yeah. And so that's why it's so important for you to follow what Allison said. Like, we're here in real life, you know, and Even, like with ManyChat, the messenger bot tool that we love, we hosted an event at our house for the manychat community. So as much as you can do to bring people into the place where you can hug them, if that's the thing that you do, or, you know, just making sure that you are getting data that you can actually control. And really important, we use a tool called Repurpose. It's Repurposed IO. It downloads every video that we do automatically, because I've had videos just disappear and been heartbroken and then been so, so grateful for Repurpose because it automatically downloads everything.
Jared, did you get that? Repurpose IO?
It's really good. Yeah.
Yes. Christine, hi.
Hi, Molly. You know, I'm a raving fan of yours.
I love you too.
So, as you know, I have the podcast wasted up a wardrobe, and I just recorded episode 47 last week, so. 47 weeks.
Oh, God.
I have so much content. And I actually have been trying to follow some of your methods, and I. Do you. I just started using Repurposed I. AI conversion and some other tools that you. But I'm like, it's. It's a little bit overwhelming for me. I. I do have my producer helping me with that, but so I can do all of this with my podcast content. Right.
The whole thing. So that middle bubble can be your podcast. So I do it with the weekly live video. But if you took a picture of all those bubbles, the middle bubble can be your podcast. And then you're announcing the fact that the podcast is happening. You're releasing it. Right? People are engaging. It's a little harder to engage because they can't comment below. But you can send them from the podcast to get show notes and actually have it be in your Facebook group. Right. The podcast can be.
The podcast is streamed through Facebook, so it lives on Facebook. And there are replays, and it's on replay, like, indefinitely. I mean, people can go back. So I guess the question is I'm just like, I need to start doing this. It's not really a question. It's just following your map, I guess, and trying to do that.
Yeah, yeah, just do it. Just do it.
And I know that it seems like a lot at first, so really, like, we were on a call with our Glenn members last week, and Sean Quintero, some of you may know him, he's in our program, and he was like, molly, if I tried to do everything that you're telling us to do, he said, I would totally glitch out. In my videos. Each week I just add another thing. And it's working to just release the need to have all of it at once. Remember that I've been doing it since 2016, so we have a lot that's strategically in place, but just add one thing each time.
Hey, Molly.
My name is Lauren Golden. First of all, McCall Jones says hi. When you introduced yourself, I was like, she has to know McCall. So she says, hi. I'm excited to get to know you. I'm not familiar with you, but I am in kind of the digital marketing space as well. And I love your message today about building a movement. I have a Facebook group. That's how I built my business. I'm kind of on the maybe extreme end of things where I started also in 2016 with content. I have a podcast. I have a YouTube channel. I go live every week in my Facebook group. And it's almost become this monster where I'm like, I've been talking for three and a half years, and I don't have.
Have anything else to say.
So it's like, how. What is your advice, I guess, for on one side how it. It seems like you produce your primary piece of content on your page and then send traffic to your group. I've always done my primary content. My lives in my group. Do you recommend changing that and why?
Okay.
And then number two is how and. And maybe your bubble will answer the question. That was the one picture I took. How do you give your content more longevity?
Awesome. Yeah. Okay. I love this. And for those of you that may feel the same where you've had so much content, this is a very weird tip. Check your blood oxygenation because we've realized that because I talk so much, I'm over oxygenated. Weird. So when you.
I have a daily word quota, so that's probably the case.
So. Okay, so if you're. But I'm in the same place where we have so much that I'm like, oh my gosh, it can be overwhelming as well. And you might feel like, what else am I going to talk about? Without jumping ahead of what people actually need. So it's great that you've been doing your content in your group now because now you get to do it all again on your business page. Okay. So the reason is that video that I shared that had 150 shares. If I had done that in a group, nobody could share it.
May I ask a follow up question? How do you then? Because to me, that's always been kind of the promise of being in the group.
Okay. Yeah. First, so offer. After you do your live video, offer a behind the scenes Q and A about the video. Okay. So like, and make sure that you're in. You know, we're gonna do this content out here because make it a win for them. I know you want to share this with your friends and maybe they're not het to the fact that they should actually be in this group. And so this way it's gonna make it easier for you to bring your friends into our community. So we're gonna move it to the business page where you can. We don't use the word share. Cause Facebook doesn't like that word. So we say sprinkle, Sprinkle it amongst your community. And then after you can do another little mini video or even a post in your group about the video that you just did. Okay. And then on the longevity question real quick. So every video that we do on our business page, we turn into a blog post. That blog post is also optimized for SEO. Okay. So. And we didn't do that at first. So we're actually working with Neil Patel's team team now. To go back and go through all of our old content. And this is my layer of the parfait that I'm at now is making sure that we're optimizing the SEO just by, you know, changing some stuff in the title and things like that. And we have blog posts and videos that are still getting views and opt ins every day because we have them optimized in other places. Okay.
I do that with my podcast and my YouTube. I didn't even think about with the Facebook content. And then are you still bringing back old stuff stuff onto your social media as well?
Yes. So the other thing is we have dollar a day ads for all of our. Not all, but almost all of our videos.
Yep.
Yeah. Because you're building retargeting audiences with those dollar a day, Adrianna.
Love it. Those are great questions. Amanda.
Hi, my name is Amanda with Innovate Marketing Group. I actually listened to your webinar on Pinnacle when I was doing my morning walk and I actually did try the Brussels and I got a lot of responses. You're right. I was like, why do people care?
Because it's human stuff. Right. It's simple. We all eat.
Yeah.
So I tested it. It did work. Thank you so much. My question is, you know, how did you find your voice and personality? Like, do I need to dye my hair blue like you.
Like, I'm not.
You know, you're so bubbly. So much energy. I am. I do have a lot of energy.
But you're just.
You just take up another notch.
Yeah.
Right. So how do you find that really authentic voice? Because I don't want to try to.
Be someone that I'm not.
I love you for asking this question, so thank you so much for asking that. And I. I often have a whole section that we do about this because if you. My answer would, do not dye your hair unless it really feels natural to you. I dyed my hair because I have a Cruella de Vil gray stripe right there. And that way it makes it easy when the gray grows out. I don't look like I have a bald spot. So it just was like the real reason why I started doing that for you, though, it's about identifying the things that make you tick as a human. So we have this exercise called the Quesadilla of Awesome, which maybe you saw before. The Quesadilla of Awesome is where you make a list of 20 things that make you a uniquely awesome human being. And you have to do that inner work for yourself. And when you start talking about that stuff, like during the pandemic, I was super bummed because we had a Disney cruise that got canceled. So I started going on a pretend cruise. I was like, I'm on a pretend cruise, and I'd post a picture of me with, like, a tiki mug and hashtag pretendcruise. It's super weird. It's just because I, like, my husband went on the cruises with me. It was awesome. Our kids loved it. We had, like, the daycare, you know.
It'S gonna be okay, Molly.
But guess what? I had people reach out about asking me to model their. Like, to be an ambassador for their baby bathing suit line, which I was like, wait, what? And that. Then I talked about that. That became something. But the pretend cruise is something that people talk about all the time, and it came just because I really was sad about not going on cruises.
Thank you so much. I also love cruises. I was supposed to go Paris, and I will now go on pretend cruises.
All right, all right. Okay.
These two.
And then. And then we're going to call it a wrap, right? So.
Oh, yeah. Virtual.
Oh, yes. Okay. Do we have. Let's do the virtual question right now.
I love your blue shirt.
Okay, we can't hear her. Can you put her up on the screen here?
Okay.
Am I unmuted?
Am I good? Okay.
All right, Molly, so I love you. I follow you. Is there and an app or something that you suggest to post a post on multiple platforms? I know you know, not to thin it down, but sometimes there's. There's a really good post that you want to do on, like, three platforms that you get a lot of traction on. Do you? I know of some, but I just.
Wonder if you recommend.
Can you move that up here so we can see her? There we go.
Awesome.
Can you tell us your name also? Antoinette. Is that okay?
Antonia.
Antoinette. Okay. Amazing. Awesome. Yeah. So there's two tools that we use for that. And at first, I used to be kind of. Peng Joon says that you shouldn't post on all the platforms at the same time, that you should spread it out over, like, two months. And I tried to do that, and it drove me and my team crazy because we were always trying to keep things different in different places, and I think it got really confusing. So now we actually do post some things in multiple places at the same time, and we use BE Live to live broadcast in different places. There's a few tools to do that. I'm on the team at Belive Full Transparency, and they're head of partnerships, but they have just Announced that soon everyone will have the ability to go live in five places at the same time with BeLive, including LinkedIn and RTMP. So that's really cool. Yeah, so we've been doing that and it actually works really well. I was worried it would water it down. We send everyone to Facebook and then we use the other platforms just to kind of scoop other people up. And then we use SmarterQ as my favorite for posting in different places because you can take everything you posted on Instagram and load it in in one batch and it will automatically post everywhere else. So it's really great for repurposing.
What's it called?
Smarter Queue. Smarter Q. And it's the fancy version of Q. The Q U, E U E.
Say that one more time.
Smarter Q. Smarter Q. Like in a line, like a Q. Yeah. Okay. If you go to Molly Live Tools, I have a list of all my favorite tools.
Oh good. Just do that.
It's a spreadsheet. It's not sexy. It's just a list in a spreadsheet. Molly Live Tools.
Okay. Stephanie.
Hi, Molly.
Good to see you too. Okay, so you know who I am, but I'm supposed to say I run Sizzle Force Marketing. We are a marketing strategy and copywriting and content development agency. Okay, so question for you. Is that little bot that you've got going on, your bot is playing the role. What you talked about one role that your bot plays. Can you tell us what else your bots will do in your sequence?
Yeah. So basically, and we pulled this way back from what we used to do because. Because of compliance stuff that's changed. So if you used to use bots to send mass messages to anybody you want, your page is going to get shut down. They've changed those rules. So what we do with them now is they follow up with comments both on Facebook and on Instagram. They just announced it last week. It is so cool. So it will follow up with comments. The other thing and it just sends a message right away. Then we have. It asks for your email and it asks for your phone number. And then you can do what's called a one time notification, where one time if they click a button, it can send a reminder saying, hey, you asked for a reminder about this specific thing and it can send a blast out there. The other thing that we don't do as often as we should is sponsored messages. If you build a community. I use the word community, not list. If you build a community of people inside your bot, you can send a sponsored message and it is Ridiculously cheap. Like, so, so cheap. And then on Instagram, they'll reply to story shares. So if someone shares your story or tags you in a story, it'll reply back and say, hey, whatever you want it to say. But like, hey, thanks for sharing. And it replied in messages as well.
Very cool. And you're using many chat still. Okay, sweet.
Thanks.
Awesome.
One more.
I'm Ann Bennett. Ann Bennett, marketing founder of Renegade Branding. I help entrepreneurs stand out in an overcrowded marketplace being uniquely themselves. Okay, I have like a mini question. So right when Covid hit, I was taken off of Facebook and my Instagram 6, 10,000 followers couldn't get it back. So I'm starting over. So I did something wrong, but I have no idea what. So my question is, everyone's telling me I can post on my business page and then put it on my personal page, and that's okay. And then the other day, someone said, no. So I just need to know the right sequence of where to post because it. I don't want to go through that again.
So. Yeah, and one of the things that to keep in mind with that kind of stuff is sometimes we're doing things that we think is, like, not a big deal, right. But we have to remember that Facebook is using these automated tools to try and keep off, like, robots and things like that, you know, bad bots and things like that. So you could have shared a link in five places all at the same time and gotten flagged. And that could. I mean, it could have been something so random that got you taken down. So what I would say is that right now, honestly, business pages are not. Not doing is. I finally am admitting not business pages is awful right now unless you're sending people there. So for you, Ann, I would just do a video on your business page once a week and maybe one or two other posts in between, and focus on building connections on your personal profile.
So build the connections on the personal profile and then invite them to group.
Invite them. Well, invite them to a video of some sort or a video on your business page and then to your group. Because if you just invite people to a group, you can only invite them once, Right. Otherwise it's like, weird if every week you're like, hey, did you join my group? No, really? Did you join my group? But instead you're like, oh, I'm gonna teach you how to, you know, wear a fabulous scarf. Do you want to come to the live training? I don't say come to my Facebook Live. I say come to the live training. On how to wear a fabulous scarf. You want to join me? Then they go to the training, and then you invite them to your group.
But the training is on the business page.
It's a Facebook Live on their business page. Yeah. Okay.
Okay.
And you're sending people there, and you can build that traction there. You're not going to send people to every single post that you do on your Facebook business page because that would get weird. So we're pulling back on the amount of content that we're sharing on our business page because Instagram is just getting so much better reach for us, and we're really focusing on our main video and then one or two other posts in between. Great. Thank you.
Yeah. All right, let's give everybody a hand. Let's give Molly a hand. This is awesome.
Yay.
Thank you so much. If you love this segment with Molly Mahoney on the Scale or Fail show, you're definitely going to want to watch this next segment with Dennis Brown, which he's going to teach you how to soar on LinkedIn. So I will see you over there.
