The 5 STEPS To GROW Your Business FAST | Allison Malsan

Allison Maslan breaks down how to scale a business through different leadership phases. She uses a trapeze artist metaphor to explain why you can't do everything yourself, and promotes her book Scale or Fail as a guide for growing without burning out.
Welcome to Allie and you the Business Success and lifestyle show. I am over the moon, excited. I have been waiting a couple years to be able to share this information with you. For those of you business owners that feel like, oh my God, I'm living in a box, I'm trying to get to the other side to scale my business and I just can't quite get there. Or maybe you've gotten to a certain level, but you, you feel stuck. And I'm going to share with you how to get to the other side in my brand new book, Scale or fail right here. Do not miss it. This episode of Allie and you'd welcome to Ali and you'd the Business Success and lifestyle show. I am Alyson Maslin. My friends call me Allie. I'm a business growth mentor. I've been running companies for the last 35 years. My passion, my mission, why I do this work, why I do this show, is that I want to help you get out of your own way and just see a bigger path for yourself. If you thought you knew it in phase one, but you really didn't know what you were doing, you, you start to see what the potential is. But you've probably got people in the wrong roles. You know, there's people coming and going on your team. So many business owners just really struggle with this piece. You may be micromanaging and just like squashing the talent. Like so afraid that things are going to slip through the cracks and you're like, you don't want to let go and you're afraid to trust. But in a sense, you're kind of self sabotaging because if someone feels like that you don't trust them and you're always on top of them, they're really never gonna fly. They're never gonna stand up and take responsibility. They're never gonna come to you with creative ideas because they're gonna feel like you're always squashing them. This is a tough place to be and I'm not criticizing the business owner, but like, there's a shift that has to happen from going to being, from being a boss and to a leader. But in phase three, you often have employees that are disengaged. And how do I know this? Because from a Gallup study, over 70% of business of employees are disengaged, which means that probably some of them work for you. Okay, but there is hope. There is phase four. But let me tell you, so many business owners die in phase three. Literally. It is a dangerous place to stay. Phase three is about Figuring it out, building the teams, putting that structure together. But you have to be able to evolve past that. And so that is moving into phase four. How do you get to phase four? You have to be willing to take the leap. Now, some of you may know I am a trapeze artist. I've been a trapeze artist for 20 years now. Almost 20 years. I even have a flying trapeze in my backyard. I know, totally weird. But I'm so passionate about it. I love it. And it's such a great metaphor, right? So when you're taking that leap and you're letting go of the bar, it's the same thing from going to phase three to phase four. You have to let go, you have to trust, you have to start stepping back. You don't need to CC on every single email and review every single document that goes in and out. Yes, I get that you're afraid that your employees are going to make mistakes, but if you don't let them, they're never going to grow. It's like with your children. If you're constantly rescuing them, do you think they're going to have their wings to fly? No, because they know that you're going to do it for them. So stop doing that. Okay? If you are in phase three, phase four, you are the co creator. This is where you are working with your team. They're excited about your vision. You are inspiring them with the vision where you're taking the company. You're helping them to see that they are an integral part of the growth. And instead of telling them everything to do, you are saying, well, what would you do? How would you handle this situation? You know, put a plan together, come back and present it to me, and you start to see the leaders shine in the different teams that you have. See, in phase three, you have the teams, but you still have a hand in each one. In phase four, your team starts stepping up, taking responsibility so that they can run with it. How incredible would that be, right? Like, you go to sleep at night and you know your team's handling something and you don't even have to check on it. This is like a business owner's dream. I mean, dream. You go on vacation and your business is actually growing while you're gone. I mean, like, it is the best. They've got it handled, right? And so the key here is that you have to start letting go. But they're asking questions like, how do we increase revenue? How do we drop expenses, how do we increase profits? How do we create a better Customer experience. Right. They're figuring this stuff out. Right. What a relief. Now this moves us into phase two. 5. Phase five I call the visionary. The visionary is why you got into business in the first place. Because that's what most business owners are. You're the creative one. So you're able to, once you get to this place, you have cultivated amazing leaders. They can run with it. And at this point you can either bring on another CEO, you can sell the company, or you can just step back and let the company run. And you just have to stop giving your two cents for every little thing because even though, yeah, your two cents could help, but it really is hindering them from owning it and really having that sense of ownership within the company. And that's really what you want. Alright, that's the five phases for building a team managed company. There's that and so much more in my brand new book, scale or how to build you'd dream team, Explode your growth and let your business soar. It was endorsed by Daymond John and Barbara Corcoran and so many others. Incredible people that I'm so, so grateful for to get this message out. I want to impact so many people with this work. It's what I'm meant to do. And there you have it. So go get the book, get a lot of the gifts that come with it, share it with your friends and join me next time on Allie. And you'd. Scaling a business is not for the faint of heart. Playing it safe causes 34 million American business owners to avoid risk entirely and suffer from smallness. I understand what you're feeling. No matter how hard you work, no matter what you sacrifice, you just can't seem to get to that elusive next level. That's because what got you here is not going to get you there. Scaling is not about working harder. It's not that one right strategy. It's the whole picture. It's you, it's your big, beautiful vision. It's your team, it's your drive, it's how you show up. It's time to take a leap off the trapeze so you can soar high in your business but you're holding on too tightly and killing your growth. If you're truly ready to leap, it will not be easy. If you want easy, there's always your comfort zone. Are you prepared to fly? You're well beyond the startup phase in your company. You've created a decent level of success. Your tenacity, your spirit have gotten you here. But my gut tells me you were not put on this earth to play small and stay inside the box. There is something about the ability to direct your own and that drive for freedom, expression of creativity, building your legacy that pushes your entrepreneurial buttons and that wild spirit. If you are fully ready to bust out, step into your power. Own it. As the leader and visionary that you are, it's time to get your arms around the method that will finally get you there. You are not meant to be small, you are meant to shine. If you are truly all in then let the adventure begin.
