This is a YouTube video titled "You don’t need to work harder. You need to think higher." featuring a conversation where Allison Maslan interviews another speaker about mindset shifts related to business growth, private equity, and authenticity. The discussion highlights challenges like imposter syndrome and staying true to oneself in professional settings. The content was created in May 2025.
What do you feel were the biggest mindset shifts that you had to make as you were evolving? You're, you know, 120 locations, 2,000 employees across multiple states.
Everybody experiences imposter syndrome at some point, right? And I really didn't know what private equity was when I started. And when I started to build Solidcore, you know, one, it was like, again, I can do this. I'm doing this. But when I walked into those private equity meetings, Alison, and they would start to use acronyms that I didn't know, I would be like, I don't know what that means. Can you explain that to me? And I think I had learned this through doing construction at Solidcore with contractors. Whenever anybody would make me feel small or make me feel foolish or that I wasn't capable or that I shouldn't be in the room, I just wouldn't do business with those people. And I never was afraid to ask questions and be like, again, I don't know what that means. And I think staying really authentic. The first private equity partner that I took on asked me, you know, the chairman of the company came in, and I'm sitting with. With all men, and he asked me, like, how's business? And I stood up and I, like, lifted up my shirt a little bit to show him my core. And I'm like, it's great. And, like, it was such a moment of me being true to who I am and never ever changing that for an investment or anybody else, because these were going to be my partners.
