Amanda Barr and Beck discuss how to make concerts more shareable on Instagram. They cover decoration, hashtags, and signage that get attendees to post photos and videos from your event.
Hi, guys, it's Amanda and Beck here with no bullshit business tips, and we are going to talk about Instagrammable concerts today.
Absolutely. Now, I know that this isn't a oh, my God, blow my mind kind of thing, because it is so important for all of our events these days to really think about how Instagrammable is this. It matters now.
It totally matters. And also, I don't know if you guys have ever done this, but I have. Where you've got through the whole concert, you haven't really posted anything. No one else has probably posted much either. And then you've done all of that work for. For what? Like, you want people to see how amazing your concert is? We put so much time, effort, money, all the things into it.
Right, absolutely. So, you know, unfortunately, a media wall doesn't cut it anymore. So what else can you do? Can you create, you know, those incredible balloon structures? You know? You know, but maybe that's getting a bit boring too, you know, and I think it's really about, like, investigating, seeing what's in fashion at the moment. And it changes, right? You know, reaching out to one of those balloon decoration companies, an event company, whatever it is, to make your concert super Instagramable, but also remembering to remind the parents what you want them to do with that.
Yeah, I'll give you a perfect example. So I ran a breast cancer fundraiser a couple of weeks ago, and obviously everything's Barbie at the moment. So we just had the Barbie box there and told everyone to hashtag pinkuppenreth, which is who we were doing it for. And literally everyone took a photo in the Barbie box. Cute. And then hashtag did. And I just. It's such a simple thing to do, but it just makes it, you know, something fun that people want to put on social media, and that's what it needs to be, right?
Absolutely. We just want all that social proof going onto our Instagram so that people can see, you know, that your studio is the studio to be at. And that concert was the event of the year for those kids. So really make sure that you ask for it as well. I think that's the big thing, not just having the great setup and spending all the money on the great setup. It's the sign next to it that says, hey, remember to tag us or use this hashtag or whatever that is. You know, perhaps go in the draw to win. That often works. But you're having those signs everywhere so that it's too super clear what you actually want people to do with it.
And do, you know what? I didn't realize this until we ran Expo, but those signs are actually really easy to get and super cheap. Like, they're not expensive at all, but you can get like an app Pause Studios little Core Flute sign, and it's so cool. And like, yeah, you can get that from everywhere, right?
Absolutely. Easy Signs is your best friend.
Yes.
We'll just do a plug for Easy Signs while we're at it. But really think about what is going into the foyer of your concert and how can you make it into Instagrammable? And that's our big tip for today.
Yay. Thanks, guys.
